I think it is better that Hoff is in the background. Much more nostalgic to have previous actors as guest stars or a parent. Smallville is an excellent example of this. They have included so many of the previous actors in the show and I think that is cool!

The Hoff? Bruening? What gives? I don’t think this show is going to survive without its star. And I think KITT decided to only play character roles in major motion pictures a few years back. Last time I saw him, he played a taxi alongside Queen Latifah and Gisele Bündchen. No KITT = no show = no chartbuster in Germany.

I think they should steal an idea from Indiana Jones-Holy Grail edition and make Hoff the older, wiser rider with an old 1980s style Kit. They could ride to the rescue of Junior when he gets in trouble.

I loved Knight Rider. I know I was not the only one who talked into their watch going “talk to me buddy.” I would watch at least one episode if Hasselhoff was the lead. Sadly, I would then realize (much like I did when I watched Dukes of Hazzard as an adult) that it really was not that great of a show. But if Selleck reprised Magnum? Bliss. I heart Tom Selleck.

Susman, I give you flack when you are wrong and props when you are right. It’s a flack day today. Much as I love Hasselhoff (the singer more than the actor), we’ve seen the best remake results come from complete reboots. Had the producers of Battlestar Galactica chosen to use the same actors as Apollo and Starbuck, we would have lost out on a great series.
Better to have the original actors in different roles or as background characters (like the guy who was once Apollo playing that political backstabber on BSG) than in the hot seat.
Another example of this idea going awry: Imagine if Star Trek:TNG had kept all the original actors! Instead of Jean Luc Pimpard it would have been three more years of James T “overacting” Kirk before cancellation.
