Happy Birthday, Jodie Foster!

The incomparable Jodie Foster turns 45 today, and in honor of the big event, I’m going to make a confession: I’ve never been as excited by a movie trailer as I was for her 1997 sci-fi drama Contact (below). (Also, it ranks among my five favorite movies of all time.) Mock me if you must — all my friends certainly like to — or take a more positive approach and give Foster some birthday love. As Jame Gumb might say, "It places the birthday wishes in the comments section. It does this whenever it’s told."

I liked Contact too, but I haven’t seen it for a few years, so I don’t know how I’d feel about it now. I went through a sci-fi craze when I was 12 (the year Contact came out) so of course I had to see it!
Oh and yeah, happy birthday to Jodie Foster.

“Incomparable” is a great way to describe her. Keep those movies coming, Jodi. (Hey, “Contact” is one of the fav movies in this household–aka nerd central.)

Happy Birthday Miss Foster! You grow lovelier every year.
Slezak you keep flying your tiny-font freak flag, honey.

    Slezak,
Usually we don’t see eye to eye on all things entertainment, but I agree with you on Contact. Easily one of the top ten movies of the 90’s.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE Contact. Such a great movie.

Right until she landed on the island, Contact was one of my favorite movies ever. But I can’t give the movie a pass for the last 15 minutes.

Jodi, Happy Birthday. Watching you though out your career has always impressed me. From Child Model, to T.V., to Disney, to Scorsese, to director, to producer. This is one of the women of Hollywood I have most admired for many years. Smart, Beautiful, Sexy, Strong, and Independent. I know she has a sense of humor, please make some comedies again. I miss seeing that smile.

Happy Birthday, Ms Foster! You are beautiful, intellegent, glamorous, strong, and talented. And you manage to be all of those things in an anti-cookie-cutter “hey – I can do that too!” kind of way. So thanks for the movies, thanks for the class, and thanks for the inspiration.

Count another Contact lover!! Happy Birthday Jodie!

Contact is a great movie. Your friend obviously don’t know what’s up…

Clearly I’m not alone in my agreement that Contact is AMAZING…made me fall in love with John Hurt and Jena Malone, not to mention it being one of my favorite Jodie Foster movies, probably second only to Silence of the Lambs. The beginning, where the camera pans back from Earth, accompanying its trip with continually aging radio broadcasts…One of the best opening sequences in a movie in the last 20 years.

Okay, you are not alone (sing it with me people). I loved the movie Contact when it came out and will still watch the whole thing whenver it is on TV. And no, it is not just for the early McConaghey factor.

Finally some love for a great movie. It ranks on my all time top 10 list. Today is my daughter’s birthday too. It’s nice to know that she is in great company! Happy Birthday Kelsey & Jodie!

Thank god! I always thought I was alone in LOVING this movie. My friends also mocked me for liking this film. Every time I watch I still get the same sense of anticipation each time they make a new discovery. This movie also cemented my love of all things Jodie. Happy b’day and keeping making awesome movies that no one appreciates

Aw isn’t anyone gonna wish Larry King his 217th birthday?
