Kelly Clarkson’s “My December”
(Sorry Jonathan F)
Two suggestions, Marc…
- The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: “The Black Dossier”. Alan Moore’s DC imprint, America’s Best Comics, nears its end with this gorgeous hardbound follow-up to the first LoEG stories, framed some 50 years later in a spy-centric UK. Packed with text, Kevin O’Neill’s detailed linework, and even a pair of 3D glasses, it shows why Moore’s still leaps and bounds above most of his comic-writing brethren.
- Autumn DeWilde’s new “Elliott Smith” hardcover – a heartbreakingly beautiful collection of photos that Smith friend DeWilde took of the late singer/songwriter, accompanied by a five-song live disc, and lengthy interviews with friends and former bandmates. Beck, Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, ex-girlfriend Joanna Bolme, Nada Surf’s Matthew Caws and others share thoughts on what he meant to them, to the world, and how they saw fame get to him. For fans, it’s a reminder of what a deeply complicated talent we lost when Smith committed suicide in 2003.
– Dan Slott’s “Avengers: The Initiative” – now that Nisha Gopalan has reviewed it for the site, it seems like the right time to include it on The ML, especially after the seventh issue, which hugely affects the Spider-Man titles.
– Tracy Jordan’s “Werewolf Bar Mitzvah (the full version)” at NBC.com.
– “Aliens in America” – It’s now a better bet than “Reaper” if, because you’ll soon be having “Office” withdrawl, you’re looking for a new comedy to watch.
Rap stars RZA, Common and TI in American Gangstar. Great acting in smallish roles.

Stike info 101…even a midwestern- state-government-employee (that’s me!) can get the gist. Proving you can’t stop the funny.
Err…stRike info…sorry.
Also, gorging yourself this holiday season and shopping should be an honorary MUST.
Reading – “The Looking Glass Wars” and “Seeing Redd” a re-imagined trilogy (the third book is forthcoming)about the Alice in Wonderland stories!
Quite good!
Aww, come on EW. Give Stephen the Kelly Clarkson ML spot. He truly is turning into a stalker, and nobody wants that. Am I right, folks? I’m totally there with you Stephen. It is a great album.
Kevin Walker on “Brothers & Sisters”
Karen Darling on “Dirty Sexy Money”
Captain Awesome on “Chuck”
(1) 30 Rock..getting better and better each show, it’s making me nutsburger.
(2) Lars and The Real Girl…makes me realize that whoever my brother brings home for Turkey Day isn’t so bad, really.
(3) LeAnn Rimes “Nothing Better To Do”…the anthem for a long weekend with the family.
*King of the Hill-show still rocks
*”In Rainbows” Radiohead- good, classic radiohead
* El Orfanato (The Orphanage)- saw this at an early screening, scary and fun
“Walt and Skeezix,” Book Three: “Gasoline Alley” might be the greatest forgotten comic strip of the pre-”Peanuts” era. Frank King brings the 1920s to life in a way that no clunky silent film of that era could. (Drawn and Quarterly)
“Once”: The littlest Oscar contender of the year, coming to DVD on Dec. 18. I saw this at Sundance back in January and it’s still my favorite film of 2007.
“A Pig A Day: Icons of Barbecue 2008 Desk Calendar.” OK, I’m biased toward this one (it’s my co-creation), but what’s not to love about 314 singing, dancing, good-timing cartoon pigs joining the celebration of our barbecue nation? http://www.bbqcalendar.com/
Y the Last Man
Weeds
Ruby Dee in American Gangster
How I Met Your Mother
Episode “Slapsgiving”. It hasn’t aired yet, but it does on the 19th the deadline for this must list. Plus I’m sure it will be legendary.
Super Mario Galaxy–The galactic is fantastic in Mario’s stunning return to form as the king of platforming, if not video games altogether.
