She was hilarious on Action, so memorable guest-starring on Six Feet Under, and now, Illeana Douglas is set to… host Celebrity Garage Sale on A&E? Seriously? With all the Cashmere Mafia/Lipstick Jungle/Dirty Sexy Money dramedies making their way to the air, not a single network exec thought to snag this versatile comedienne for a starring role? So go ahead and watch Douglas sift through Tom Arnold’s trash if you want, but I’m going to rewatch the Action pilot (below the jump) to relive the moment her prostitute character gets dragged by a limo from her fur coat and takes liberties with poor Keanu Reeves. Good times!

isnt she on ugly betty now? she popped up for a few scenes then….poof! i have always liked her since i saw “to die for”!!
I thought she was joining the cast of Ugly Betty but after 2 episodes she vanished! I hope she comes back or gets a juicy role elsewhere soon!
don’t forget how great she was on The Larry Sanders Show way back when – like when Larry forced her to rehearse her talking points while they were in bed!

We love her too. She’s in the pre show at Rockn Rollercoaster at WDW. One of the reasons we love that ride.

Douglas is reliably great. I mean, she even livened up Lisa Loeb’s reality relationship show “#1 Single” on E! (hey, my girlfriend was into it…and so was I, who am I kidding?)
Anyway, I agree that this woman should have her own TV gig (preferrably on cable) where they can just cut her loose. Then again, the title of this post could easily become a regular feature. “Why can’t Hollywood figure out what to do with (fill in name of your favorite tragically underused actress)?”
One of the great oversites in Oscar history is Illeana Douglas in To Die For. Her description of the wedding rings, her skating at the end…good stuff.

She’s been a guest star on “Ugly Betty” too. Where’s the mention for that? It’s better than nothing, and it could be written as a larger role in the future.
I’m sorry but she is just a terrible actress.
As good as she was in “To Die For,” I think she was even more spectacular in “Cape Fear.” She held her own with Bob DeNiro, even when he was gnawing at her face.
She’s definitely good, but there are probably dozens of talented, underrated actresses I’d want to see more.
I’ve always liked her and also thought she was great on Lisa Loeb’s reality show. She is so quirky that casting her would not be that easy…come to think of it..has she been on that IFC show Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman? If not, she would make a great addition as a quirky friend or agent. Love that show.

Call me shallow, callous and evil, but I find looking at her mesmerizing…and not in a good way…her bug eyes, her large lips/teeth/mouth, I tend to stare AT her more than pay attention TO her…

She’s just okay to me. If Allison Janney all of a sudden becomes completely unavailable then I guess she’ll do. Maybe.
totally agree. I hate when amazing character actresses go unnoticed because they’re not stunners. Jessica Alba gets first billed at crap and people like Douglas and Judy Greer get continually sidelined in supporting, however memorable, roles.

I loved her in Ghost World and still quote her pretentious art teacher character to this day. “I show this film to all my students…it shows what it is like to inhabit my specific skin.” Love Grace Of My Heart too. I would like to see her in anything.
