Trailer Blazer: 'Rambo'

Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo hits theaters January 25. I can’t believe it’s actually happening either — and I say that as someone who just phoned her dad to tell him that he better damn well wait for her to see it. There’s absolutely no need for this movie, and yet, the trailer is right: "He is a legend of war. A solider without a country. You know his name, and you know… what he’s capable of." What he’s capable of, in case you’ve forgotten, is wielding a knife handily and delivering lines like, "War is in your blood. When you’re pushed, shovin’s as easy as breathin’."

Launch trailer after the jump.

Has Stallone won the battle of getting you to want to see this movie? Or what would it take? (Keep it clean. And constructive!)

Yes, but it’s not on my must see list

Oh yeah…I’ve already got the date down on my calendar.

  • Here’s a Thought

Sly Stallone may be the most brilliant man in the history of cinema. As a young(er) actor he made several films that will live in the annals of action movies forever. Now, as he begins to wonder how to keep his career alive, he simply adds new chapters to the stories he helped create. Brilliant! Completely, freakin’ brilliant.

Yep, won’t be seeing this movie. Sorta falls into the category of “who cares”. Sick of remakes (High Noon anyone? OMG! I can’t BELIEVE they’re gonna remake that film!!) and prequels/sequels.

I kept expecting Stallone to say “Kids, get out of my yard”.
If you want me to say something constructive, they should stop extending movie series past their prime.

Stallone should run for governor somewhere and use the movie as an excuse to promote his campaign like Ahnold did.
As for Rambo, this’ll be Part IV. Stallone just did Rocky VI. What’s next, Cobra II? Stop or my Mom will shoot…Again? Cliffhanger, still hangin’? Or how about Demolition Man II, Wrecking Ballz?
Stallone’s always been a better actor than his poorly chosen roles would have you believe, but I’d like to see him evolve past Rambo.
What would it take? Rambo could go to Atlanta and take on some dog fighting pit owners or take out some drug smuggling FARC rebels in Colombia. Saving prisoners from a Southeast Asian deathcamp sounds so 20th Century.

need to see more…is this a throwback to the human John Rambo as seen in first blood or the paraody of John Rambo as seen in First Blood: Part three (AKA Third Blood)?

  • Zan.Bee

At least quote the movie correctly…
“War is in your blood. When you’re pushed, KILLIN’as easy as breathin’”
    Not shovin’…
See you soon Rambo: “Live for nothin’ or dye for somethin’”

  • Hi

    Sounded like shovin’ to me

I don’t think that anyone really cares right now. I mean, with our brainless president sending troops to the Middle East, I doubt that anyone is in the mood for a Rambo flick. As for Stallone as Governor. I can see it now: “What do you have to say about the MTA wanting an increase in fare?” “Yo!”

    I heard shovin’ too.

I just wanted to say that for me, the trailer stats by itself and is REALLY scary when you’re headphone are in the computer and you don’t know where the sound is coming from (I had another web page open over PopWatch).

  • Sven

I will put it on the Netflix queue, but not bother with heading to the theater…

  • Ben

Looking pretty bloated in the jungle there. Starting to look like Col. Kurtz from Apocalype Now. Hopefully, a Predator will show up in the jungle there and take Rambo’s skull.

  • Afraid

… he’s capable of killing countless Asian people apparently. So angry!
