I’m going to make a confession that proves:
A. Even though I watch way too much TV, I still don’t watch enough TV.
and
B. I’m as old as the hills. (No, that’s not a reference to MTV’s "reality" series.)
So anyway, I just read the following People.com headline — Leighton Meester: Kissing Chace Crawford Is ‘Fun’ — and so help me Google, I had no idea who those people were. I am officially 70. That is all.

I just had to read what this entry said, becuase the title made absolutely no sense to me.

omg, i saw that headline on people.com yesterday & wondered who the hell they were. I was too lazy to google so thanks Slezak. The kicker is that I watch & actually like gossip girl.

Maybe it’s better that you don’t know. I’ve watched the show and feel sort of both old and embarrassed that I DO know who they are ; )
I know of Chace because his dad is my dermatologist of the last few years. It’s been so fun to hear him making his way up in the biz, esp when he landed this pilot and they were hoping to sell to CW. You’d think he was my son. And I owe all this excitement to Botox!
Mr. Slezak, it’s perfectly fine to be “old” — I’m 36, old enough to know that I don’t care who these people are, and wise enough to not feel bad about it!

Seriously (Vicky). If your name were Leighton Meester, wouldn’t you change it? And if it wasn’t your name to begin with, why would you make that your name??? I do love it, though, that the actors in GG are in reality named as if they lived on the fantasy Upper East Side of GG. Chace Crawford! Blake Lively! Leighton Meester! Penn Badgeley! Those have to made up, right? (I can’t believe I know those names…)
hehe I love Gossip Girl and even I didn’t know the names. Nothing clicked until I took a close look at the faces.
I knew who they were. It’s offical. I watch too much TV, have no life, and am decidedly immature. Wah.
I’ll bet you’d know who Leighton Meester was if Vanessa L. Williams played her mother on “Gossip Girl.” She’s appeared in loads of series, including “24,” “CSI: Miami” “Veronica Mars” and “Surface”!
I don’t watch Gossip Girl, but she certainly caught my attention with her guest spot on “House” last year, as the daughter of a clinic patient who temporarily became obsessed with him. Otherwise, I’d probably have no clue.
On a side note, what parent with the last name Meester would foist the name “Leighton” upon their DAUGHTER?
27 here, and well, I don’t know and don’t care who these people are. But the fact that you still read people, a magazine/website that is soooo 20th Century, does cause some reason for concern.

An aside to everyone talking about her name… Leighton is pronounced “Lay-ton” not “Lee-ton.” It’s not as unfortunate as some of you seem to think.

I watch “Gossip Girl” and find it awesome, but I don’t know most of the stars’ names either. No worries.
Also, those two actors hardly ever kiss each other on the show, even though their characters are supposed to be dating, so it’s a weird article anyway.
