And then there are great books that are part of a great cause like The Beatitudes by Lyn LeJeune who is donating all royalties to The Orleans Public Library Foundation – she is not a celebrity, she’s written a 5 star reviewed book, but who is going to notice in this Pop Culture World.

A few of my favorite book titles:
    A Confederacy of Dunces
    A Clockwork Orange
    To Kill a Mockingbird

  • Kelly

This was by far one of the funniest columns in the popwatch blog in recent weeks. Thanks for making me laugh during my work day Gretchen!

Most boring title: “My Life” by Bill Clinton – c’mon, you’re better than that!
Most original: anything by Kinky Friedman but my favorite “Elvis, Jesus and Coca-Cola”.

“The Unexpectedly Bad Hair of Barcelona Smith” by Keith Graves ( who also brought us “Frank was a Monster who wanted to Dance.”

This piece is dead on! It’s not only important to have the grabbing opening sentence-make sure the title catches the eye. Something with the words Sex, Drugs, Murder, and other sensationalist words are grabbers. “The Summer I Made Sandcastles with my aunt June.” would be bypassed by me.
