Man, I really want season 7 of 24 to be good, especially after the disappointment that was Day 6, but this trailer doesn’t give me a lot of hope. (Warning: Trailer is full of spoilers.) I mean, it’s enough of a stretch that Tony Almeida is coming back from the dead, but to make him a rogue agent on top of that? Also, it’s nice to see daylight and a change of scenery (CTU is apparently history, and Jack is in Washington, testifying before professional curmudgeon and former That ’70s Show dad Kurtwood Smith), but the terror plot — a computer hack attack — is snoozeville. Tell me, Bauer-philes, am I missing something? Is there something in this clip that makes you eagerly anticipate the Jan. 13 season 7 premiere?

Looks good, I’m just relieved to see Chloe.
At one point, a woman says “Whatever it takes” to Jack. You NEVER say “Whatever it takes” to Jack. Ever. It will NOT end well.
No, unfortunately it doesn’t look good at all. It looks like desperation and an emphasis on busy action and jerky cameras over good suspenseful writing. After last season, there’s really no way to revive this series that has more than overstayed its welcome.
You know, I don’t care that this season looks to be Live Free or Die Hard x 12 or that Tony’s “back from the dead.” Tony was (is?) one of the best characters on the show, and after the utter CRAPFEST that last year was, I am eager to see 24 back on track. I like the idea of the trial, but I think the whole real-time concept will have officially run thin if Jack’s pulled out on a mission while the trial is in recess.
That trailor made me so excited for this upcoming season!!! I wouldn’t care if Tony was reincarnated into Jack’s grandmother. Just that fact that he is back makes me so excited for this season to start.
- Shirley – I didn’t see Chloe in the trailor?

I didn’t see Chloe in the trailer either. Can’t say I’m excited about seeing this but after last season there’s nowhere to go but up.
Chloe is there, along with Bill Buchanan. I’m just glad its not in LA. Nice change of scene/
Since 5 out of 6 seasons were pretty dern good television I’m willing to grant them the benefit of my doubt and let them entertain me as they see fit. Tony’s character has plenty of reasons to be more than a little upset so his motives will at least have some validation, it would seem, and I love the fact that Jack is still the politically incorrect icon that satisfies the warmonger in me.
Last season was dreadful but I’m going to tune in to see Tony.
Looking forward to it! This show has had its highs and lows (remember Kim and the mountain lion, or even Kim at CTU) all along the way, and they do require you to exercise your suspension of disbelief on a regular basis. But there is nothing else like it on TV. It has influenced action movies to the point that I thought the latest Bourne and Bond movies were dipping into the 24 well of ideas as opposed to the other way around. Last year was probably the weakest, but I still tuned in to get the weekly adrenaline rush. I will be there in January rooting for Jack to get out of the latest pickle….
Oh, come on you guys know that tony will be a good guy by the end of the first 4 episodes.
Even with a weak season last year, 24 is still highly superior to 95% of the worthless TV that is out there. I watched the trailer and I am very excited about the new season, new location, old face and new. I will wait to pass judgement on Tony until I see how they handle his storyline. I just can’t see them making him totally bad. Remember in S4 when Jack told Audrey he called the one person he could trust? And Tony comes busting in, guns blazing. My favorite moment in 24. I can’t wait for January!
Don’t rule out the fact that it might not be Tony. Some bad guy might have altered himself to look like Tony just to distract Jack. With 24 you never know what to expect.
Ughhh…all of the fans of 24 were clamoring for an upgrade in Season 7 after the absolutely disastrous Season 6, and this doesn’t do much for me.
Making Tony look like the villian in the trailer is just a red herring. Even if he’s up to something that looks bad on the surface, his ultimate goal will be for the greater good (which is basically how Jack always operates, drawing a parallel).
The new season will be fine and everyone will watch regardless of what they say. Like one poster said, 24 at it’s worst is way better than most of the craptastic stuff on TV.
Well I’m glad that tried to shake things up a bit. A new cast, a new setting. But bringing back Tony from the dead? Seriously? That’s sad, desperate and something that soap operas do. It’s always been hard to take 24 too seriously, it’s so outlandish, but this is just a bit much.
Amelia from General Hospital is on this show now? No wonder she hasn’t been on GH for a while . . .
I’m excited! I know bringing someone back from the dead can be lame, but credit 24 for only doing it once in 7 years. Considering how many great characters they have killed off (esp. President Palmer) I’m surprised it took this long.
Rod does have an excellent point. Give it a chance guys, I mean come on, 24 has one bad season and you’re going to be all hatefull about it? Besides, it’s really not that big of a stretch for Tony to come back, I mean who really understood exactly what was in that syringe anyways, and what was really going on behind the scenes? It’s not like they are bringing someone shot in the head back or something.
Here’s the deal.
This trailer only covers the first 4 or 5 episodes of the season. So to say ‘this season is gonna suck’ is just country dumb. It’s not my favorite trailer ever, but I like how different it looks from other 24 trailers we’ve seen.
I think it looks good. Last season was last season, let it go. The show has consistently set the bar SO high, one season was bound to disappoint. I am psyched at a credible, exciting villian, I like the new scenery…bring it on. Jack is Back baby!
i do have something 24 last season was weak but it still had more action then heros does in its second season, that trailer was more exciting then anything ive watched on tv this year especially heroes lol, u now theres a twist with tony, show this willing give that tease of tony back so quickly u now there a twist, deep underover, not the real tony, or chemicals injected in him and loss of his love has made him gone mad, i like jack and tony have many reasons to turn on government thats burned them so many times it happens in real world all the time…
Tony is enough to make me want to watch this show again! And I agree he’ll probably be made a good guy early on, except only Jack will know it, and there will be the same old plot where Jack is temporarily mistaken for being bad. But once we get past that…hopefully the season will be good!
i think it be cool if tonys deep undercover for nsa or something and fbi has no clue. or again like we all said they should done in 6 season not kill tony and make him blame and go mad against the government that killed his love… i truly hope they give a great explaining on what tonys been doing for past 4 years.. in first season i so thought he was bad guy and he wasnt is he bad guy for real this time hmmm… and about the terror plot its simple which is better then setting a bomb off like last season. people forget first season it was just stoping an atempt on senators life, simple yet great
Looks like they are using the last Die Hard movie, which focused on a world cyber attack, and Die Hard II, which was set at an airport and had the terrorists controlling air traffic control. Isn’t this a Cloe moment? But a woman President at the time Hillary is running is interesting, and will influence voters. But my prayer is that they use Audrey somehow. She was tortured by the Chinese and I’m hoping that she will become a Manchurian Candidate, brainwashed to get next to Jack and kill him. Season 7 ending…she’s got the drop on him…fade to black…gun shots. How about it?
Tony looks pretty bad ass, at least.
The trailer really isn’t showing you the big, juicy, politically charged plotline that’s coming. Based upon the spoilers I’ve read, 24 is doing a Darfur allegory-genocide is occuring in an African country, and it sounds like the 24 U.S. is trying to ignore it-which will have serious consequences. It’s going to be more like Sydney Pollock’s “The Interpreter” than any of the “Die Hard” movies.
One thing that I think you’re missing is that the trailer was able to do something that an ENTIRE SEASON last year WASN’T able to do – set up bowling pins and prepare them for what should be an exciting slam of storytelling, visuals and something that WASN’T last season.
While last the overall storytelling arc (or lack thereof) of last season was something that even Production Designer Joseph Hodges said “sorry, sorry sorry and sorry” for (in our most recent interview with him), the ideas and “hope” that this trailer gives us are hands and fists above what we got all last year.
Have a little hope that they’re trying to take to heart what “happened” last year and be a bit more upbeat. otherwise it’s going to be a long damn couple of months and an even longer 5 months of Season 7.
