Swagalicious: Check out our 'Beowulf' blanket!

Beowulfur_lEver wake up in the morning and think to yourself, ”I’d really like to dress like a Saxon warrior/furry pimp but I’ve got nothing in my closet?” Well Paramount’s PR department has just the thing for you: a 4-foot x 5-foot fake-fur blanket in a lovely stripey brown pattern. Seriously, cooler swag has not crossed our desk since the magical Transformers pen (which, at the touch of a button, transforms from a plastic wedge into something you can write with).

Why is this Beowulf item so great? Because it’s got tons of uses: makeshift bear rug, car-seat cover, Quest for Fire Halloween costume, really comfy adult diaper, tiger pit cover, luxury parachute, etc.

Thanks, Paramount! That’s two for two. Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with for next year’s Star Trek. (But you can’t just slice up this blanket into squares and pass ‘em off as tribbles. That’d be cheating.)

I am so sad I am no longer in a job with good gifts. I covet your blankie! Maybe you could run a contest for it, with me as the winner?

All people ever give out in DC are stupid pens. I think it’d be cool if all the non profits, banks and lobbyists starting giving out quality swag like that fake fur blanket I now want more than anything on this Earth. Man does that blanket look cool!

  • Anjeliki

I’m with you, EP. All I ever get are pens and coffee mugs. Somehow, in the last month, I got two manicure sets, as well, which I will happily trade for that awesome blanket. I’ll even throw in seven or eight coffee mugs!!

I agree with the other posters: EW needs to hold a contest with the Beowulf blankie as the prize.

  • Dan

    I really want that.

  • Lene

If I give you my address, will you send it to me?

Where are the pictures of our favorite Popwatchers modeling this fine piece of clothing? I know they exist.

  • Anjeliki

DaisyJ, I vote for Furry_Tom to be the first Popwatcher photographed wearing the blanket.

  • furry_tom

There are already pictures out there of me in Raquel Welch’s furry bikini.
    Shameful, shameful pictures.

I second Anjeliki’s motion. Popwatch genie, here’s my input for your consideration.
Why not have popwatch sponsor contests (like the guess the movie grosses game) and give the winners free swag? If it’s free it won’t cost the magazine anything (aside from shipping, and a quarter page ad once a week for the now-hip USPS would get you that covered for free). Since I’m sure that most movie makers send out at least two of everything, we wouldn’t be stealing precious swag from the EW writers either.
Mickey O’connor did the Popwatch brainteasers. Why not do those again and give some swag to the first person to guess the question right?
To cite Precedent, Susan from the front row already does something like that(I won my first t-shirt a few months ago), and it’s a pretty cool feature.
Plus, furry_tom would come up with an incredibly creative (and sidesplittingly funny) way to model that blanket and I totally want to see him do it!

The 4-foot x 5-foot fur blanket sounds warm, and its getting cold! But really though I don’t see anything wrong with sending and receiving cool movie stuff. All I know if I am really looking forward to seeing Beowulf.

  • blankie

    I’m snuggly soft.

  • Marc Bernardin

That, blankie, was the best comment ever.

  • blankie

    Thank you.
