I’m sure that, during their hollowed-out volcanic planning retreat, Jessica Alba’s management cabal presented their client with a spiffy Powerpoint flow chart showing her career trajectory. Sci-fi TV show hottie → superhero movie hottie → diving flick bikini hottie → film noir stripper hottie → Dane Cook. Clearly, the natural progression points to "Asian horror remake hottie." And so: The Eye (due next February).
It’d be nice if, just once, when remaking an Asian horror flick, the filmmakers didn’t so slavishly try to replicate the dank, moldy look. It was fresh when we first saw The Ring six years ago. Now, it just looks tired. Take the foundation of the plot — it’s The Hand meets The Sixth Sense ("Someone else’s eye sees dead people!") — and spin it somewhere fresh.
There is one thing interesting about this trailer, though: If Jessica Alba was blind, I might actually have a shot.

Too true, Marc…everything about this trailer looks recycled. You knew she was going to see something scary through the peephole, right? Alba herself even looks like a sort of downmarket Angelina Jolie here. Get some fresh ideas for horror, Hollywood!
Um… “The Eye” is a Chinese film, not Japanese. I really liked the original, mostly for the way it refused to acknowledge the boundaries between a genre movie and an art film; it was beautifully composed and shot, and the slow-but-steady pacing let you get absorbed in the story and the characters and the culture – because really, that’s one of the most interesting things about it: it’s a ghost story set in China, an ultra-modern culture in some ways, but with its own set of cultural attitudes towards ghosts. And that tug between ancient and modern attitudes is central to the film. It’ll be the first thing to go in the remake, of course…
its chinese, not japanese- get your facts right
So the poor girl is blind and then she gets a freaking defective eye. That’s not a horror movie, that’s just plain cruel. Let me not get started on how it’s all the HMO’s fault.
I have to say, the original was creepy creepy creepy. Not looking forward to the remake.
This movie’s gonna suck something awful, but at least Dane Cook’s not in this one.
I loved the original. The elevator scene was one of the scariest scenes in recent memory.
I really enjoyed the original, but remakes of Asian films drive me crazy. There has yet to be a good one. They lack the depth of the original films and give in to too many schlocky American horror stereotypes.
…And this seems to be almost a shot for shot remake, only in English. It’s going to be unbearable.
Everyone knows this film is from China, Not japan. Only the Japanese will say this film if from Japan because…they are idots. LMAO. I love the original version.
And I saw Trailer Blazer joined the celeb and millionaire singles dating site millionairecupid.com. Many of her great pics posted there are great. And her fans started many hot topics for her too.
It will be unbearable. Fortunately no one will be sitting through it. Pain will be spared.
