I have to admit that I was a little worried after the season premiere. However, so far the “dead body” situation and now the Carlotta situation are my only real concerns. Everything else about this show has remained true to form and every bit as engaging as the first season. Let’s all pray that the Carlotta thing doesn’t become any more nauseating than the massage was, and that the dead body doesn’t come floating onto the field during a freak flood at a game. Aside from that, Riggins, Seracen, Julie, Tammy, Coach, Smash, Buddy, Lyla, and yes, even Landry & Tyra, are as wonderful and captivating as they ever were. Please let them hold onto and build the audience (Mondays at 10 was a great suggestion, as was the plea for more promotional effort). Clear eyes, full hearts….
Enjoy it while you can folks. This show is smart, well written, beautifully acted and yet it can’t beat out the badly written, over acted Women Murder Club. I mean, seriously? WHY?? I do think you all are on to something when you pointed out that a potential fan base is actually out watching or playing in Friday night football games. I just hope NBC figures that out and finds a time slot that works. I’d hate to see this brilliant show die a slow, quiet unwatched death.
If you’re still reading this board, I just wanted to comment on how accurate your remarks about ABC were. I loved all of the show you mentioned and am leary about getting attached to quality TV beacuse it invariably gets cancelled (NBC did it to me with My So Called Life). Anyway, It was cool to read your post and completly relate. Now how do we help save this show??
Hmm… I think if we could figure that out, we’d be able to write our ticket in television programming (ha- not interested, would rather criticize others). I’ve noticed plugs for FNL all over the place, but they’re subtle, and usually don’t say much more than ‘come on, this is a good show.’ In all the proselytizing I’ve done, most of my friends tell me that they’re not interested in watching a show about football- and my sense is that most of us who love this show are not watching it for the football. So here’s a direct message to those programming people: NBC, if you’re reading this thread, you’ve probably noted that your attempts to promote this show by the usual hype aren’t working out too well, so here’s a suggestion. What about treating viewers like the intelligent critical thinkers that we are? And offering us this programming when we’re home and available to watch it? And letting the writers/actors/directors/producers take the show where they want, without interference?
i still don’t get why tyra just didn’t call the cops in the first place last season.
I love this show. Lynchpin, thank you for expressing my thoughts. I am so sick of seeing nonstop ads hyping Phenomenon. To add insult to injury, NBC showcases its Friday night lineup with promos for Las Vegas? I love Tom Selleck, but even I cannot watch that show. And the Friday at 9 time slot is NBC’s final nail in the FNL coffin. Most people that would really enjoy FNL are(1) out watching real football, (2) out enjoying their Friday nights, or (3) asleep because they are exhausted from the work week (yes, that is pathetic, but I confess that it is all I can do to stay up for FNL-and no, I am not 68 years old-34 who feels 68 by Friday).
GIVE THIS A REGULAR TV WATCH!!!
I loved this episode – thought it was one of the all-time best for FNL. For those who don’t buy the Tyra/Landry hook-up, I thought Tyra’s explanation to Landry’s Dad was a perfect explanation. Loved the scenes with Tim and Lyla (he’s hilarious/shameless for trying to use a G*d connection to hook up with her) and loved the scenes with Street and Tim. The only thing I don’t like is the Saracen/nurse thing – have to believe it will be handled well by the writers. Agree with posts saying NBC needs to promo the show more and better – I never see ads for it and most people I know have never heard of it.
This show deserves a full blown TV Watch! Love it! Riggins attedning the Mego church was hilarious! Just knew that he was trying to get somewhere with Lyla. The scenes between Julie and her mom are just heartbreaking. Those two are such a tough spot! Having an infant myself, I cannot imagine having a teenager too!
Why can’t people see what i see??!!! I count down the days the see this show..It’s even tied with Grey’s in my eyes….i get a huge grin when something good happens, and a frown when something sad happens…..i can’t get enough and i just wished people would feel the same way
GIVE. FNL. A. T.V. WATCH!!!!!! I love EW with all my heart – really I do – but it drives me bonkers that you profess your love for FNL as one of the best shows on TV, yet by not giving it its own TV Watch you give the non-converted the impression that it’s not quite worth it. How are you going to convert EW readers to much-needed viewers if there is an implication that the show is not even worthy of someone doing a bit of Saturday morning work. Please. Please. Please. Please?
Not to add fuel to the fire, but it kinda blows my mind that EW gives America’s Next Top Model a TV Watch and FNL doesn’t get one. I mean… really?
I heart this show. It’s heartbreakingly real. I kept saying, “Oh, Tim. Poor, alone, abandoned Tim” over and over on Friday. Not too many shows can make me narrate the emotion.
FNL deserves more viewers than it’s getting. The quality of work being put out deserves as much hype and EW-covers as the Grey’s overload. I can’t look anywhere without seeing McDreamy again and again. KChandler is just as hot and deserves just as much love and adoration.
I love this show because I live in this show. I’ve grew up with the small town Texas HS football and this show represents it well, warts and all. I don’t understand why this is not a hit. I hope that if NBC gives up, maybe CW will take it on. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
Once again I say give FLN a chance!!! Last year it became my fave show, yes over Greys!!The characters are so real. I let my 14yr old son watch it just to see what he is in for as he is in his first yr of High School. Please lets do what we can to keep it on the air. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Sorry for screaming, but I LOVE THIS SHOW!! WOW!! I watched last week’s episode three times over the weekend, plus I went back and watched the first two from this season. After a rocky start, I definitely feel the show is getting back on track. My fave moments were with Julie and her Mom, and Tim and Jason. Its just an amazingly terrific show, and I will cry when it gets cancelled. I think Friday night is a horrible time slot. NBC, please give this show the respect it deserves. Give it a better time slot. And that goes for you too EW. How about a cover story AND a Pop Watch!!
It is simple: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is the BEST SHOW ON TV.
So please NBC, do whatever it takes to save it. WHATEVER!!!
