We’re a few weeks into the season, long enough to watch at least three episodes of every show in the new TV crop. And now’s the time when us TV junkies have to start making some hard choices: specifically, what shows to jettison from our DVR?
Me? I’m just about done with Journeyman (pictured; it’s like Quantum Leap, without QL’s terrific, baseline premise: he’s always hoping the next leap will take him home) and Dirty Sexy Money (I just don’t have room in my life for a wacky evening soap, no matter how good it may be). I’m on the fence with Reaper (loved the pilot, but the second episode whiffed something fierce) and Chuck (the producers are working overtime trying to find ways to shoehorn a tech-wank into the spy-drama-of-the-week, and the strain is starting to show).
And, despite TiVo-ing the pilots for Cane and Moonlight, I didn’t watch either. Every time I went to my Now Playing menu, those yellow exclamation points were just taunting me…to the point where I deleted them to avoid that harsh glare.
What shows have you booted out the door?

Dirty Sexy Money. There is nobody to cheer for, I don’t particularily LIKE anyone.
I’m totally done with Back to You. It gets less funny every episode.
I like Journeyman and Cane. I usually will watch anything with time travel and Cane is getting better every week.
I was hoping (because I like Jerry O’Connell) that Carpoolers would be decent, but I was done with that after the first 10 minutes. Same with Big Shots – likable cast, dumb show.
Unlike others (mom!) I didn’t tune into every new show. I am still liking Chuck, loving Pushing Daisies and on the fence with Reaper. I started Moonlight, and walked out a half hour in (my mom gave it two episodes). Those are the only new shows I bothered to even try on this season.
I think the cast of Journeyman is great, and am especially happy to see Kevin McKidd and Reed Diamon as brothers, but I don’t know that I can stick with the show for a couple of reasons. One is 10 pm shows are just too tough. The second is they need to address why he is journeying soon (and why his former girlfriend seems able to control her movements through time).
Pushing Dasies is so saccharine sweet it makes my teeth hurt and Private Practice just ruined Addison for me
I love Michael Vartan, and the rest of the cast is very likable, but Big Shots needs better writers. The premise could be interesting.
The Bionic Woman–the writing is just so bad that I space out every episode. What a waste of my time!
It’s not a new show, but I am so bored with Desperate Housewives.
I agree about Journeyman, Back to You and Carpoolers. I LOVE DirtySexyMoney and LIFE.
Still loving Reaper, Chuck, Pushing Daisies, and Journeyman. Thinking Bionic Woman will be the first show erased from the DVR.
I dropped Journeyman almost immediately. I couldn’t even make it through the pilot. I’ve recorded a couple episodes of Chuck but haven’t watched them, and I just didn’t think Reaper was that good.
Bionic Woman big time! Followed by Dirty Sexy Money, and, I say this with alot of regret, but I just can`t stand it this year, Heroes.
Gave up on DSM and Journeyman after 2 weeks. Still watching Bionic Woman and Chuck. Never watched anything else that was new this season.
Bionic Woman….could not take the horrible acting!
I’ve kept Pushing Daisies (amazing), Chuck, and Life.
Bionic Woman and Private Practice literally raced to see which show could get de-Season Pass-ed first.
I’ve given up on Dirty Sexy Money and I’m ready to stop watching Reaper to. The only reason to watch is for Bret Harrison, who is normally shirtless at the beginning of each episode. Still watching Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, Bionic Woman, and Samantha Who?.
“Dancing With the Stars.” It’s just the same thing every season, and I can’t stand the grating judges.
Bionic Woman…what a disappointment. i grew up watching it in the 70s and was excited about this one, but’s just too far gone, too stupid. i like time travel stuff so i’ll keep journeyman, for now.
I’m done with Tell Me You Love Me. What a sorry bunch of unlikable people.
I only took on one new show this season (Pushing Daisies), and it’s still growing on me. I’m not sure if I like it or not, but I’m still watching, so that must mean something.
Of older shows, I dumped CSI: Miami last season – I just couldn’t take the implausible plotlines any longer. I also dropped the season pass from 30 Rock – it’s just not that funny, especially after I’ve watched another great episode of The Office.
I dropped a lot actually. I’ve nixed Journeyman, Carpoolers, and Gossip Girl… Reaper is on the fence. I have Life and DSM on the DVR but I have a feeling I’m never going to get around to those. Unimpressive Fall season to say the least.
I really wanted to love Private Practice – I tried so hard to love Private Practice. But after this week’s episode, we’re done. It’s not just the childish characters – a grown woman contemplating stealing a urine sample – but then they added bad medicine to boot. None of the dozens of hospitals could figure she had a Crohn’s. Maybe my outrage comes as a suffer of the same condition, but reeeeally now.
Sorry, I love Journeyman. I admit it is frustrating with the purposely witholding answers and the wife is terribly unlikeable–but it has potential. Especially this week with the doctor from the present calling him in the past. Hello! What was that? Plus I love Kevin McKidd.
PRISON BREAK
Bionic Woman got the boot off the DVR last night. It’s just utterly unwatchable. Like approaching Sci-Fi’s Flash Gordon bad. Reaper is on the fence for me. I’m still watching Journeyman (my love for Kevin McKidd is sustaining it) but I won’t shed tears if it’s canceled. Still loving Chuck, even if the premise is weak.
I’m with Court and the others who like Journeyman. It has much potential. Bionic Woman has been a colossal disappointment.
I’m starting to hate Cane. The only characters likeable are Isobel and Enrique (Henry). I hate Jimmy Smit’s Alex “Michael Corleone” Vega. He is the most annoying character. I can’t see how anyone can hate Dirty Sexy Money. I’m starting to get sick of private Practice and Pushing Daisies. And Big Shot is one of the worst shows but I love Michael Vartan and Nia Long’s characters. They are the ONLY likeable ones on that horrible show. Can’t get into Bonic Woman, that chick can not act.
I gave up Prison Break after the second episode; I have a few new shows I’m watching, and it just wasn’t worth it to watch whatshisname break out of prison a second time. Big Shots has been on my DVR since it started, and I have yet to watch a single episode, so that will probably get dropped too. I’m still watching Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice (however tentative) and am willing to give Samantha Who a shot.
I might watch too much tv…hmm…
