Q: What has 44 legs, smells nice, and can make grown men cry?
A: This group of female characters from TV and movies honored in today’s EW.com gallery: 22 Butt-Kicking Babes.
A stunning collection, this line-up of lithe and lethal lovelies. It includes a handful of secret agents and assassins, at least three space-faring sirens, two aspiring pugilists, and a crazy-eyed saloon owner with a weakness for black britches. (One guess as to which of these ladies is played by Joan Crawford.) But, yes, we’re proud of our paean to pistol-packin’ pulchritude. What do you think of our selections? And which tough-gal character would you add to your harem of hard-hittin’ hotties?

I am glad you have Beatrix Kiddo and Ripley on the list, but Catwoman? Please! What about BUFFY?
Hello, Sydney Bristow?
1. Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar’s, of course).
2. Lara Croft (Angelina killed i, despite your opinions of her).
Agreed – Buffy and Sydney Bristow.
It is incredible they were missed.
More incredible is their top 10 worthiness.
Why would you show the current bionic woman? She is not a butt kicking babe. She is an embarrassment to the others listed. The first one (the chick from Battlestar Galactica) is the definition of butt kicking babe, but not the bartendender.

More than a few misses with this list.
1.Buffy, of course
2.Xena and Gabrielle
3.Peta Wilson’s US Nikita
4.Sydney Bristow
Whoever came up with this list sucks!!!! How could you leave off:
1) Jessica Alba(Max)in Dark Angel
2) Sarah Michelle Gellar(Buffy)
3) Vivica Fox (Also in Kill Bill)
4) Linda Carter (Wonder Woman)
5) Darryl Hannah (Kill Bill Vol 2)
Any one of these five would send Kate from Lost crying back to Sawyer or Jack. Shame on you, EW! This is too important a topic to mess up so badly, lol.
Where the h-e-double hockey sticks is Buffy? Hello? She saves the world every season from vamps, demons, and gross things. Plus, she has male admirers as well – Angel, Spike, Xander, the whole swimming team that turns into super big fish (poor, poor Wentworth Miller).
Oh, and she was CHOSEN to do this all. I don’t see a lot of chosen people in your list. Sorry.
Wth! No Buffy, what crack are you smoking that you would leave off Buffy and have that loser Bionic Woman on the list, sad……
#1) Buffy
The new Bionic Woman made it, yet no Buffy. I am amazed and confused!
Seriously? No Buffy? Was that on purpose to actually get people to comment on the lameness of that list? Disappointed is not even a strong enough word for this omission.
How could you leave out Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow? She’s also done Elektra. Really bad oversight, in my opinion, as Jennifer was the first person that came to mind when I saw the gallery.
How in the world do you do that list and not list Buffy and/or Faith? That’s a pretty glaring omission folks.
Shocked and amazed that BUFFY did not make the list. SMG and Jennifer Garner alone upheld the idea of butt-kicking women for nearly a decade. Shame, EW, shame!
I gotta agree with the other posters – where’s the Buffy love? She’s one of the baddest chicks around. At least you got Joss’ other buttkicking babe, River.
In the wise words of Agent Weiss, Jack is going to shoot you in the face. How could you leave off his daughter, Sydney Bristow?
You mean “Ma’am,” right? I would hope at least the headlines could be copyedited. . . .
OMG! As I clicked through this list, I was positive that Buffy & Sydney Bristow would be at the very top. When I got to #2 with still no sign, I was like – Is it a tie!?!?!? It didn’t even occur to me that they would NOT be on the list!!!
Princess Leia? She was the original bkb of my childhood.
Gotta agree with the folks here: Where’s Buffy? I can think of a handful of others who should’ve been on the list, but can’t get past the Buffy omission. What were you thinking?
How could you leave off Diane Rigg as Emma Peel? She was the coolest butt-kicking babe of the 60s.
2 questions: Why is the chick from Chuck on the list twice? And where the hell is Agent Scully?
Seriously. Buffy. Seriously. Catwoman? Catwoman?? Buffy.
Props for using the word “boobsploitation,” tho’.
Um, not showing much love for 90s TV: no Scully or Buffy? But naturally, shows that have only been one for a couple of episodes and are hungry for PR (read: “Bionic Woman” and “Chuck”) seem to have bought a place on this list…
Where the heck were Buffy and Sydney Bristow?!?!?!? Who wrote this list? You included the new Bionic Woman who hasn’t even proven herself as a tough girl yet, but you forgot Buffy and Sydney? Shame on you! And, honorable mention goes to the Halliwell sisters of Charmed. I’d take them over Charlie’s Angels.
Sydney Bristow is such a glaring omission from this list! Like someone else said, I was totally shocked when I got to number 1 and Jennifer Garner was not up there.
If you want to go old movies, try Maureen O’Hara in McLintock.
But seriously, how can you not have a character on here named “The Warrior Princess!” Wow, I think they need a new list!
I’m with the other posters. Where are Buffy and Sidney Bristow? I was nearing the end of the list and I thought, they must be the top 2 and when I saw they weren’t, I was like WTF?? They could take any of these other girls on the list anyday. Imagine if the two of them were paired up together against some unknown swarm of baddies? That would be one kick-a** fight scene!!
I’d pick Buffy over the chick on Chuck any day. Not only does the girl have superpowers, but she gets off some fierce one liners. Buffy has saved the world at least a dozen times. Can you say that about the majority of the chicks on your list?
I kept reading the list, thinking, surely Jennifer Garner is up high. Then, I thought, wow, she must be number one! Um, hello, EW? No Sydney Freakin’ Bristow? She should be on the list for that scene where she kicked the globe at the guy alone. She was badass and vulnerable at the same time…the perfect tough chick.
