1. Pushing Daisies – what a slendid, enchanted tale. Throws me back to my happy little girl phase. Love everything about it.
2. I dislike everything American Idol, but I just heard the second single off Taylor Hicks’ album that I actually liked, so I listened to samples from the whole thing, and hey, whoa – This isn’t pop schmaltz! It’s music with heart and soul and complexity! Hooray! Must buy.
3. Looking forward to taking my 3 year old son to Bee Movie. He loves all things bugs and I expect it will be highly entertaining as well.
1. Transformers- First film in a long time that I saw more than once.
2. Amy Winehouse- despite her problems offstage (which are irrelevant), she’s quality.
1) Amy Pietz in “Aliens in America.” Amy makes it all to easy to forget about her roll as Annie on “Caroline in the City.” But maybe that’s because she’s not in her Cats costume…
2) Kristin Chenoweth on “Pushing Daisies.” Olive Snook may long to be touched by Ned, but her rendition of “Hopelessly Devoted To You” touched all of us out there!
Glenn Fitzgerald on Dirty Sexy Money. As volatile priest Brian Darling, he is the best part of the show. “How do you live with yourself…”
as well as
Zeljko Ivanek in Damages. Ray Fiske is so tragic and human, and Ivanek does a perfect job each week.
“Werewolf Bar Mitzvah” on last week’s 30 Rock:

Buffalo Tom’s “Three Easy Pieces”
I know Tom Perrota beat me to it, but it’s just a great guitar rock album by one of the most underrated bands of the last 20 years.
Aliens in America
Tons of belly laughs in last night’s (third) episode. It’s critically-acclaimed, sure, but it needs more butts in the seats.
Captain Carrot and the Final Ark
The return of DC Comics’ early ’80s funny animal superheroes, bringing the funny back to comic books.
1. Transformers on DVD: Sure it was the typical Michael Bay “Plot? What Plot?” popcorn fare, but it was also all kinds of awesome nostalgia-wise for those of us who loved the original series and the subsequent generations.
2. Carrie Underwood’s “Carnival Ride”: Technically this doesn’t come out until next week, but it leaked early and I must say it’s pretty great. It may not move “Some Heart” units, but Carrie has definitely taken it up a notch in terms of song quality and vocals.
1) Pushing Daisies – it has just the right mix of whimsy, macabre humor and romantic tension, with a splendid musical number by Kristen Chenoweth thrown in for good measure
2) Neil Gaiman’s blog (neilgaiman.com/journal) – he’s an engaging writer and always links to the most unusual sites and articles
“I am America (and so can you)” by Stephen Colbert.
30 Rock
D-Listed
Diet Coke. What’s with all the Pepsi products everywhere? Time to reunite with a beloved classic, people!
JIMMY EAT WORLD – CHASE THIS LIGHT the most underrated pop band of the ’00s!
GOSSIP GIRL- I feel a guilty pleasure coming on…Wednesday and Sunday
U2 BY U2 by Neil McCormick & U2 -comprehensive, complete with baby Bono pics!
1. Legend of Zelda: Phamtom Hourglass – Zelda finally comes to the DS and its great.
2. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion Wars – FFT is my favorite Final Fantasy game and might just be my favorite game of all time. Needless to say, even though I still have the original PSone game, I’m buying a PSP JUST to get this port.
3. Luminous Arc – Yes, the story is cliche but it’s cute and fun to play. Plus, the depth of my love for Japanese tactics based rpgs knows no bounds.
Oh and I know this counts as 4, but can i just give a shout out to the new FALL OUT BOY video, “I’M LIKE A LAWYER..”? A generic emo band making tear-jerking relevant social statement?! Kudos!
1. Kristin Chenoweth on “Pushing Daisies.” This woman is amazingly talented and I’m so glad the writers of PD are letting her do so much. Now I just hope we get a little more of her in future episodes.
2. Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard on “House.” I actually went back and watched a few episodes of “Jeeves and Wooster” and was again blown away by how versatile an actor Hugh Laurie is, and Robert Sean Leonard is like his new Stephen Fry. The banter between the two of them on “House” has been stellar this season.
3. “Darkly Dreaming Dexter” by Jeff Lindsay. Read the book that inspired the hit series on Showtime. There are three books in the series but the first is definitely the best. Plus, it’s the perfect time of year to curl up with a story like this!
I am loving The Next Iron Chef on the Food Channel. Being from New Orleans, I’ve eaten at Chef John Besh’s restaurants (delicious!), and I’m excited to see my city getting some good press through this outrageous Southern Chef. He says “I’ve got a bad feeling” a lot on the show, but I’ve got a GREAT feeling about his chances of winning the Next Iron Chef. From catfish ganache truffles as a dessert and “shaving cream” on a razor clam, at the very least, I’m hooked on seeing what outrageous dishes he and the other outstanding chefs will come up with. The Next Iron Chef should be a MUST.
The Jungle Book DVD – so nice to finally put in context the songs I have been playing for my kids for ages – I Wanna Be Like You just may be the greatest Disney song EVAH!
Can you please feature Steve Inskeep – NPR’s Morning Edition host. He’s a pretty good interviewer and he can be really funny, especially when he wraps up the Business News segment at the end of the 7:00am hour. Renee Montagne is OK, but Steve is like 93 times better.
1. A Fine Frenzy- Simply Amazing music
2. Tell Me You Love Me- Very grown-up, adult show. Wonderful acting
3. Thinkexist.com- best place to find any quote
1. “Life” on NBC. For those who watch Bionic Woman…put the remote down and watch this show.
2. “I Am America” by Stephen Colbert…yes he is!
3. http://www.dundermifflininfinity.com
Kelly Clarkson’s “My December”
1. Stephen Colbert
2. Stephen Colbert
3. Stephen Colbert
1. Prison Break – the epitomy of “edge of your seat”
2. Children of Men on DVD…I know its from last year but man is it good.
3. “The Only Promise That Remains” – Reba McEntire sings, Justin Timberlake does background and it is a simple and gorgeous ballad I can’t stop listening to and I don’t even like country.
Samantha Morton is “Elizabeth: The Golden Age”. The rest of the film may be a campy disaster, but she is phenomenal as the villainous Mary, Queen of Scots, who threatens to take the throne of England.
“Friday Night Lights” Season One on DVD. I’m hooked!
Stephen Colbert!
Samantha Who?
a surprisingly good (and funny!) show that is made more enjoyable because of Jean Smart’s presence.

There’s nothing like a Spongebob/Lost musical mashup to cure those Lost-hiatus blues!
Gone Baby Gone – The book was so heartbreaking I can’t wait to see what the Affleck brothers can do with it onscreen.

1. Modest Mouse’s “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank”
2. The trans on Dirty, Sexy, Money: Candis Cayne (stunning, absolutely gorgeous and talented actress)
3. Death at a Funeral (a must-see, seriously, if this doesn’t make you laugh at the inconveniences of life, nothing will)
