Drew Carey: 'The Price' isn't all that's 'Right'

Like Drew Carey doesn’t have enough to do these days. Still, he’s managed to carve out time to make some videos for libertarian Reason magazine, little mini-documentaries on various public policy topics that he hopes will be more amusing and entertaining than, say, C-Span. (His aim is "to help fight the stupid drug laws, the stupid immigration laws, and stupid big government in general," he said yesterday in a press release.)

The first in the series, embedded below, takes on traffic gridlock in a Michael Moore-esque help-out-the-little-guy/pull-a-goofy-media-stunt kind of way. (The comic payoff doesn’t come until about six and a half minutes into this nine-minute clip, when the helicopter shows up.) Not sure I buy Carey’s political solution (the private toll road he cites as an example of what works hasn’t been the kind of free market success story he claims it has), but the video is slickly produced and modestly entertaining. Besides, for the sake of balance (and to keep things interesting), we should welcome anything that’s both funny (or at least funny-lite) and conservative; right now, the only person who can be both at the same time is P.J. O’Rourke, and he shouldn’t have to shoulder the burden alone.

I hope he gets some writing help, since he was pretty lame when I saw him do some political jokes around the time he did one of those dinners in Washington.

I’m all for the quickie pay lanes, but double decking freeways and building tunnels in LA seems like an earthquake disaster waiting to happen.

How or why was Drew pciked for the Price is Right with his immoral thoughts and deeds?

Drew Carey is absolutely HORRIBLE hosting TPIR.
    Hopefully he’ll be gone soon.
