Well I loved Pierce Brosnan as BOND. He is the only Bond for me! I don’t think his films were sub-par. I like all of them and love “Goldeneye” and “The World is Not Enough”. Roger Moore always seemed too flippant to me. Borsman was able to do both the humor and dark side. And he was the best looking by far.
(Sorry for the typo – Brosnan – this is what I get for typing at work!)
Roger Moore, baby! I’ve always stood my ground on the “Best Bond” debate with Moore. I’ve enjoyed his movies more than the Connery films or with anyone else in the role.
You think the “Best Bond Debate” is tough now, just wait till the younger generation gets their say. Since I’m too young to have seen either Connery or Moore in theaters, I feel I have an unbiased view of the two. And while it is not fair to automatically give Connery the best position because he was first, Moore gave serious damage to the reputation of Bond. Moore figurately and literally (Octopussy) made Bond into a clown. Connery’s charm and gravitas made Bond into an icon. I’d place Brosnan above Moore. No joke, I’d put Moore at the bottom. Unless you like your Bond movies as cheesy comedies instead of Action Adventures. And way to bring up Moore’s best versus Connery’s worst. Let’s compare Goldfinger vs. Moonraker – shall we?
Connery doesn’t WANT a star on the walk of fame. It’s lame.
“The Spy Who Loved Me” was my favorite James Bond movie too. But, Moore also made “A View To A Kill.”
I’m glad to see someone else agrees with me and doesn’t automatically say that Connery is the best bond. Connery’s performances in “Diamonds are Forever” and “Never Say Never Again” were the worst of any Bond actor. Connery was good in some of the early films but he had run his course. Moore’s Bond had fun and made the movies entertaining. The franchise would have died if Moore hadn’t taken it over.
Moore was too slick. Connery conveyed the mix of elegance and brutality necessary to be a 007. Connery first, Craig second, then Brosnan and Dalton and Moore somewhere far below.
Roger Moore will always be James Bond to me. Live and Let Die is my favourite Bond movie. He was the reason that those 70s-early 80s Bond movies that made it so much fun to watch (sorry Mr Connery).
I thought i was the only one who loved moore’s bond. his movies has had so many memorable actions sequences that they are often imitated in others movies without them really knowing it.
a veiw to a kill and the man with the golden gun are my personal favorites.
another underappreciated bond was lazenby. i watched on her majesty’s secret service. it still holds up after all this time.
Funny. “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Never Say Never Again” are more like Moore’s Bond films than the first five that Connery did! Which is another reason why Connery was the Best Bond ever!
Bah. I’m from the Moore era, but I prefer Connery movies. Connery’s Bond movies were more serious and thrilling. Moore’s movies started the descent into pure camp. I thought both Dalton and Brosnan had a lot going for them, but the writing for those movies were awful, more a parody of early Bond movies than successors. Craig is brilliant as Bond, and the writers are actually giving him a fair shot. I look forward to seeing more of his movies, but in the meantime I still prefer Connery.
Pierce Brosnan all the way!!!!!With Connery a close second. No way Roger Moore was the best and I’m a child of the seventies. It’s what we were stuck with till someone better came along.
