Think Radiohead’s pay-what-you-like album pricing plan will catch on? Many music journalists have suggested that the In Rainbows offer is a smart move, although today’s Wall Street Journal isn’t so sure. Here at EW, we’re also wondering what would happen if other high-profile fall releases, like Britney Spears’ Blackout (pictured), took on this tactic. If you visit our new music poll, you can let us know just how much you’d pay for Blackout and five other anticipated fall CDs if you had the option. Then, come back here and discuss why you voted as you did. Charge to bitch talk about music pricing around the PopWatch water cooler: free.

How much is Britney worth to you?

Just did the survey – one of the more dumb waste of times EW has posted. Of course the majority is going to say “zero” on any release. If you went into it with a realistic notion that you would have to pay someting, the survey would have held more meaning.
EW – Try harder next time.
This topic is a no-win situation. If you continue to complain about the constant Britney coverage, you are told to ignore it and move on. Yet, if you don’t voice any complaints, the conclusion is that the masses continue to want to be fed Britney (yes, I know the poll covers other albums, but Britney is the lead vehicle on this story). Enough already!
The poll has one glaring flaw. The $0 option is not only going to be the choice for people who don’t want to pay for album when they download it, but also for people who don’t want the album at all. You should have had an “I don’t want this piece of garbage, even for free” option.
I wouldn’t pay anything to support Britney. While I admit she is a guilty pleasure, I wouldn’t feel right knowing that my money was going toward to that train wreck.
Regardless of the kind of life Britney Spears has been leading lately and her overexposure, I would not buy her new album. I have never been so uninterested in her stuff. For me personally, it’s time to move away from her music.
I chose $0 for all of them, not because I don’t like paying for music, because I do (I don’t illegally download), but because I don’t like any of the artists and don’t want their CDs. I agree that there should have been another choice, something to the effect of “I don’t want this CD”
Wow, I completely agree with Marci, that selection of “artists” in the poll was terrible! I wouldn’t even download any of those for free! What the hell is Jordin Sparks?!?!
Now if you asked about talented, relevant artists with new releases (such as Jimmy Eat World and Thrice tomorrow), I would say I will pay $10 to buy the actual cd’s tomorrow. I only downloaded Radiohead’s new one (for $3) since I will buy the cd when it comes out, and I wanted to have the songs before then and acknowledge that they were doing a very cool, brave and original thing.
I wouldn’t buy any of those albums, with exception to Jay-Z… but only for $5.99. Otherwise, the selections were either washed-up artists, or those with nothing exciting or new to offer.
If there had been an option of “They can pay ME $18.98 for Britney’s new CD” then I would’ve selected it. ‘Cause I would want compensation for my suffering.
Why would I pay for something when I can get it for free???????
I dont care. SHe is useless and she is just human. If she continue against God’s eyes then God knows what to do with her. That’s not my decision to make. Money lover is a satan rather than lover of God.
EW should have included another voting option for Britney, Celine, et al: “They would have to pay me to get me to download their music.”

How about making her career extinct. How about Britney, Ashlee, Jessica, and Beyonce taking a vacation together and possibly not show up again. Some people have nothing better to do with their money except throw it away on junk.
More than $18.98! Britney deserves it, her work must be appreciated!
I love Britney and when her album hits the stores in my country, I’ll definetely buy it =)
