“Oh, why couldn’t she be the other kind of mermaid, with the fish part on top and the human part on bottom?”
Aw, c’mon, everybody knows what we all REALLY want to see is a stage version of ‘Newsies’ directed by Kenny Ortega.
This comment is to GLEN 10/8: Glen, if you’re really interested in the subject (personally, I don’t think you are), buy a book on B-way history. Since the 1940′s musicals have been based on something. A book, a film, a movie. (My Fair Lady= Shaw’s Pygmalion; Mame = the movie Auntie Mame (non musical) = Auntie Mame (the str8 play) = the fictional biography by Patrick Dennis “Auntie Mame”; RENT = La Boheme; AIDA = AIDA). B-way’s current turning to Hollywood for ideas for musicals might be Hollywood’s commuppance for abandoning the movie musical in the first place, perhaps with a dose of the audience’s commuppance for refusing to see a show (movie, read a book, try new cuisine?) unless they already know what it is on the way in the door. Unless I missed something on B-way, The Lion King and Beauty/Beast were nothing like the Movie. They were all cartoons. This show and it’s lead actress are poised to make history. If only Americans (who made B-way what it is) knew any history.
I was actually one of the privileged few to see this show in it’s pre-Broadway opening in Denver, CO. In fact, I was at the very FIRST show ever performed for a live audience! It was quite the night! I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the show. All of the songs I knew and loved were there and the additional songs were amazing! It was a very well acted, sung, and staged show. The ending was a little weak, but I understand that they have tweaked that and worked it out! I am anxious to see the final product and see how much has changed since that first show! Also, the cast is amazing. I got to meet them after the show and they were all extremely friendly and grateful for the support. I hope the show does well in NYC. Anxious for the CAST RECORDING!!
i think that this will be an amazing show !! and i would like to give a HUGE shout out to the cast! They have been working soo hard on this show, and some of you other people are just insulting it! i am very excited and want to go see this play! The scenes and singing and dancing will be amazing!!

Ok, 1 i totally disagree with ceej! All the Disney princesses did something! maybe not what you think but they might have gone through a harder time that mulan! i love mulan, but ya’ll have to give your Disney princesses some credit!! Ariel-followed her heart and did not let anything stand in her way…Jasmine- went with what she wanted to find love…..it takes a lot of guts to say NO to what your father expects of you…..
I just saw it last night. It was so much fun. I was surprised that there were so few children. It is long for really young ones. I have never seen or wanted to see a Disney on Broadway show but this was a great night. Sebastian was just terrific.
