I just had a freak-out trying to choose which one man to vote as my Ultimate Male Hottie of the ’70s and ’80s. EW colleague Steve Daly literally had to calm me down with: "We’re in Iraq." Ultimately, I went with Robert Redford (see why below). You?

Have to admit I went with Rob Lowe. That man was beautiful at that time, sigh. Other options I thought about: Tom Selleck (loses points on the gun thing for me); Mark Harmon (still love to watch him on NCIS); Michael Hutchence. Back in the day I might have said Tom Cruise but I so dislike him now that I can’t believe I was ever into him in the first place. BTW where are John Taylor and Simon LeBon of Duran Duran? John will always be my ultimate 80′s crush!
I went with Harrison Ford. I wanted to marry Han Solo when I was young.
Since I’m still in love with Harrison Ford that was a no brainer. I had a much more difficult time with the first poll for the 90s/00s.
Michael Hutchence. Dear. Sweet. God. I had forgotten how absolutely smokin’ he was. It’s totally the hair, but YOWZA.
I never thought so back then, but looking at that pic of Matt Dillon he is a very close second. The eyebrows knock off a couple points.
I’m still reeling from the fact that Madonna (!) is winning for the women and beating the hottie to end all hotties: Lisa Bonet.
Hubbell Gardner??!! Sigh. Still, my vote goes to Paul Newman. Swoonworthy even beside Redford.
It was a tough call but I had to go with Richard Gere on this one. Never thought I would, but that pic you guys have posted of him….WOW!!
Michael Hutchence was the ultimate hottie without a doubt.
yea, ew, this contest is totally rigged. i love madonna, but 30%, c’mon. and how does travolta and burt reynolds only have 1%. i think too many people are voting about their opinion of today and not remebering the heat of those times. suzanne somers should be higher. plus, your time frame is too wide. why should farrah be in the same time period as demi moore? as usual, your polls are bunkopolis
Rob Lowe – yesterday, today and tomorrow!!!
Though I have to say…where’s Richard Dean Anderson?
Had to be Harrison Ford – nobody can beat Han Solo’s swagger “I know” are two words that were immortalized in Empire Strikes Back. Indiana Jones was my hero. I wanted to smuggle with one and study archaeolgy with the other but at heart they were all the strong, virile man known world wide – *sigh* Harrison.
I vote for Rob Lowe. He’s the only one I’d still… um.. have relations with today. Does anyone else think that Eric Dane (McSteamy) resembles Robert Redford a little? No?
As a older woman of 54 I have to say the best were John Travolta and Richard Gere. But I am not putting any of the others down.
Robert Redford is the ultimate! Think of him in Great Gatsby, The Sting and the most romantic move EV-ER Out of Africa! When he washes Meryl Streeps hair, I feel him washing mine. OH OH OH
