Dancing cockatoos will get you fired!

So yesterday, my friend Sherrie sent me a link to a mesmerizing video of a cockatoo named Snowball dancing to Backstreet Boys’ "Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)." Seriously, I implore you to click this link and watch it for yourself, because this bird is destined to make an appearance in Missy Elliot’s next video. He’s that good.

Of course, after watching Snowball get down about 15 times in the last 24 hours, I’m kind of over him. Thankfully, a YouTube search for "cockatoo dancing" yielded 201 results. As you can see below, Frostee is quite the freak — at least when "Funky Cold Medina" is playing. And after the jump, you’ll find two more cockatoos shaking their tailfeathers (one of ‘em to "My Humps"!); I just hope Fox gives me a producing credit once they greenlight So You Think Your Cockatoo Can Dance for next summer. (Oh, and no mocking me. Unless, of course, you’re 100% certain that Gil Grissom’s team couldn’t find some forensic evidence of America’s Got Talent on your DVR.)

Birds responded to various sounds of which are musical. There was a study done in Australia that claimed music composition started with birds. Stil this bird is very cool.

My friend’s cockatoo, Baloo, used to do this if you played the piano next to his cage. He was a shy bird, so he’d listen carefully to the playing for a minute while cocking his head as if concentrating really hard. Then he’d start bouncing up and down and running back and forth on his branch. We even wrote a song for him, and if you sang it, he’d sing along and dance. Of course, this was pre-youtube, so we never thought to video tape it and put it online!

I love Snowball! Just saw that she is taking part in a bird talent contest on the pet site WebVet.com. $2,500 can buy a lot of dance shoes!
