Hot Young Stars! (You're totally reading this now, right?)

Eblunt_lMoviefone has issued a list of "Hollywood’s Hottest Young Stars" under the age of 25, and suddenly, I’m feeling old (Emily Blunt, pictured, is only 24?) and mildly depressed (Mischa Barton will have eight films in theaters over the next two years?). Cheering me up is the inclusion of Freddie Highmore (who you know I adore) and Michael Cera (who’s 19, and therefore does not need to be labeled as a totally inappropriate crush).

Who do you expect more from in the years to come: Keira Knightley or Scarlett Johansson? Emile Hirsch or Shia LaBeouf?

    Not to sound like a girl who is just crushing (which I am) I think that Shia will do great things. He has such great range. He’s funny, dramatic, and sexy to boot. If he doesn’t let the young hollywood thing take over and just stick to doing good work then he will be huge

    I am turning 24 in November and *I* can’t believe Emily Blunt is that young. I think she carries herself very maturely.
    I think that Shia has the potential to be a big star, especially after Indiana Jones. It’s really going to depend on what he does the next two years how quickly his star will fade.

    When someone at the age of nine has six movies coming out, that’s when I not only feel old… but LAZY.

  • Jakeem

    Hello? Emmy Rossum, anyone?

  • rachel

    not that i’m necessarily a fan of either, but i was surprised that Dakota Fanning and Amanda Bynes weren’t on the list. they’re pretty huge. oh, and keira is 22? i need to get a life.

  • Luke

    Woh, where’s little Dakota Fanning? She’s a bigger box office star than most of them.

  • Martha

    I expect big things out of both Knightley and Blunt…they’ve got talent as well as looks. All of these people make me feel ancient, but (happily) I have no inappropriate crushes on any of the guys! Give me a real, grown-up guy any day. ;-)

  • Kirby

    Michael Cera!!!

  • stephen

    1. No Lohan or Hayden Panetierre – good
    2. Elle Fanning and Zac Efron – bad

  • Vivi

    Team Shia!!!!
    He’s the next great movie star!!!
    Bow down to greatness!!!

    Shia, Emile Hirsch, and Emily Blunt have all wowed me before and I think will continue to. Elijah Kelley was amazing in Hairspray. And the Superbad boys, Michael Cera and Jonah Hill, will continue to have great careers. Of course, I love Michael in Arrested Development so I’m a little biased.
    Mischa Barton has 8 movies coming out in 2 years? Who keeps giving her work? I have never found her talented, and she was the #1 reason I stopped watching The OC after Season 1. After The Black Dahlia, I feel that Scarlett Johansson needs to prove that she can act again.

    LeBeof and Johansson will continue to soar. Although it would be interesting to see Shia play something other than the smart alec, quirky outsider who gets the hot chick for being himself (Disturbia, Transformers)

    Emile hirsch is great in into the wild and Scarlett is just so beautiful…

  • bunny

    Gosh, Mandi, I’m surprised you didn’t explicitly mention that Dan R. was on the 25 list….

  • misty

    Glad to see so many Brits listed!! Keira K, Daniel R, Emily Blunt and Jamie Bell will go on to do more. I can’t stand Freddie Highmore (he has no personality) but people keep hiring him – although I think the work might dry up soon, he does not give the impression that he will grow into a nice looking adult (that face, those teeth!!).

  • Rhonda

    Going by the photo Moviefone used for Freddie Highmore, he looks like a young David Tennant, should DT ever have need of someone to play his onscreen son—or a younger version of his Who-ness.

  • GeeMoney

    I expect a lot from Shia LeBeouf, because he sooo cute and talented. I hope that he doesn’t f— up.
    Also, I think that everyone is over Knightley and Johansson already. They are past their “it” girl status prime right now. Everyone is too busy talking about Britney right now to really care about them.

  • kookiejar

    I love Shia, but Paul Dano (23) is the actor to watch. He has more talent than everyone on the list put together (except Michael Cera).

  • Jaclyn

    Keira and Shia!

  • hanie

    Expected
    * Kiera Knightley
    * Shia LaBeouf
    * Zac Efron
    * Scarlett Johansson – Although I’m kinda over her already.
    Woohoo!
    * Emily Blunt – Yup, she’s a scene stealer.
    * Michael Cera – Cute and Lovable.
    * Kristen Stewart – Watch out for this one. Intense is the word.
    * Emile Hirsch and Jamie Bell – Would you look at them now! Yum.
    Others
    * Evan Rachel Wood – I used to love her. But then she hooked up with Marilyn Manson. But, yeah, the girl can act.
    * Mischa Barton – This girl can’t act.
    - Where the hell is Amanda Bynes?

  • hanie

    I forgot Josh Hutcherson! Loved him in Little Manhattan. So adorable.

  • Jen

    Kiera Knightley-ok
    * Shia LaBeouf-very limited
    * Zac Efron-one hit wonder
    * Scarlett Johansson – overrated
    • Emily Blunt – Superb! Cate Blanchett & especially Kate Winslett should be nervous of Ms. Blunt . Emily is my new favorite young actress. Her range is boundless. I wanted her to be in the new “Batman” movie.

    Michael Cera – Can only play nellie & nerdy roles-not manly enough..
    Jamie Bell – He gave a very mature & wonderful performance in “Undertow”
    * Evan Rachel Wood – Hasn’t revealed her full range yet. She is decent, but not great!
    * Mischa Barton – Doesn’t deserve to be on this list.
    - Where the hell is Anne Hathaway?
    She so movie-starish. She is a great combination of Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Wood , & Judy Garland combined. She can sing, dance, and act(comedy & drama). She was wonderful in “Becoming Jane” , and she is receiving good buzz for “Get Smart”.

  • i hate zac efron

    There are a lot of sites out there showing book video. BookVideoTV, BookTelevision and of course CSPAN, but I like how BN.com and Reader’s Entertainment TV have specific genre channels and original shows. There’s just more to see and I can be specific in what genre I’m interested in. Anyone else watch online tv?
