Nothing – I haven’t listened to Radiohead since “OK Computer”, and that was only the singles. Maybe I’ll love it and I’ll become a big fan and pay for all their old and new albums and catch them on tour and buy the t-shirt. But probably not.
I have always loved the band and admire them so much for what they are doing. I think, as the biggest and most important band in the world, they are doing a service to society by taking cultrual power out of the hands of big buisness (sorry EW) and inspiring creative individualism on the greatest of levels. I hope other musical and film artists will follow their lead. By the way I paid 10 bucks for the album already. Fair price I think. Peace
i’d probably pay 10 for the download and then buy the cd when it comes out, my husband is a huge fan so it would make a great gift for him. i’d have to download it first though, i’m too impatient to wait
$9.99 for me. I’m too entrenched in iTunes pricing not to. And also, YAAAAYYYYYY for new Radiohead! Now if they would only tour the U.S…
Radiohead is my favorite band, and for me the discbox set is where it’s at, they fully deserve me paying 80.00 for what sounds like and amazing box set. They deserve it for trying an innovative approach in the crumbling record industry, executives have seem to lost touch with what is going on out there.
Thanks Radiohead! Christmas is coming early this year!
I’m going to pay about $4. That will give the band more than double what they would get if they were working through a label (typically about $1.70) Great deal for both of us.
I paid like 5 bucks for mine. I looked at it like this- I have enjoyed many hours of Radiohead music without paying them a single dime, so therefore I owe it to them to help out with their little experiment.
I’m one of those whacky die-hard fans who already pre-ordered the $80 box set (which, luckily comes with the download album included). The bonus disk is too much temptation so I figured I’m going to get it anyways, might as well order it now.
Yep, like many others I paid £5 – round $10. And I’ll likely buy the full album when it’s released in concrete form next year, because I don’t think I could do without Stanley Donwood’s artwork.
Sad the boxed set is so much – it contains “Bangers and Mash” and “Down is the New Up,” which were two of my favorite songs from the last tour.
What would Bono do?
I paid £40 for the discbox, and holy crap am I excited!!! On or before Dec. 3rd can’t come soon enough!
funny thing is, I had to check what other people were paying before I could make my mind up what to pay.
I stumbled on a website around one month ago where news were posted about the new Radiohead and the way they were selling it… immediately it occurred to me that this was just one of those history-changing moments in music. Of course I didn’t want to stay out of it and entered the site and bought the album for about $6 (after much internal debate between paying or not paying for it). I truly believe Radiohead deserves the money. This thing of allowing everybody to have their album for any price is the most honest way to sell a record, because it covers all the kinds of fans: those that are willing to pay, those that are not and those that are willing to pay and get the real album (box)… it just can’t be more fair! And to hell with the greedy music industry… it is time for them to pay for their crimes!
[...] groundbreaking. And at the same time, we learned a lot from Radiohead going out there and doing the model where [fans decide how much to] contribute. They did a huge thing that was very risky and very [...]
