Today's Funnies: Sex and the Country

Filed under: Movies and tagged: , ,

New Line sent me several press releases yesterday to let me know that Wednesday marked the first day of filming of the Sex and the City movie. Which is all well and good, but you know how skeptical PopWatch has been about the idea of turning the fondly-remembered sitcom into a movie that unties the series’ already-tied-up loose ends. Let’s just hope that the film is a fraction as funny as this parodic Daily Show clip from Tuesday night. Watch for the surprise cameo at the end.

Good morning, Gary. Thanks for the video. What a great way to start the day.

Pretty funny. I love the over-the-top smoking part. I couldn’t help but wonder how Carrie kept getting all these guys to sleep with her when she smelled like an ashtray.

If the Bible has taught us nothing else — and it hasn’t — it’s that girls should stick to girls’ sports, such as hot oil wrestling; foxy boxing; and such and such.

While the vid is hilar, I am annoyed by two things. 1) TV shows trotting out strange conservative black women who say things that almost no one in the real world would agree with (“manly confidence”? are you kidding me?). Remember that crazy lady guest host on “The View”? 2) PopWatch’s sight unseen hateration of the SATC movie. I hated the shows “already-tied-up loose ends” (except for Miranda’s) and trust that Michael Patrick King can untie them creatively and create something new. It’s called imagination, have you two met, Gary?

junior, have you never watched The Daily Show? They trotted the strange conservative woman out precisely because her views were ridiculous

Once again, “The Daily Show” makes me laugh out loud many, many times. Samantha Bee is one of the funniest women in TV.

Of course, I’ve watched “The Daily Show” and I know why they used her, I just hope people don’t assume there are a whole lot of black ladies who go around thinking they’re inferior to men, ’cause there are not. That’s all. Although Samantha Bee’s editing of that convo was also hilarious as well.
