Let’s be honest, Amanda Bynes is lucky that her career has lasted as long as it has. I think the only career advice to give is milk it while you can and then take the money and run!!
at least she keeps her underpants on.
and yes, we have set the bar that low.
And how many times did Cary Grant play Cary Grant? How about John Wayne and Clint Eastwood? Wayne’s “Rio Bravo,” “El Dorado” and “Rio Lobo” are pretty much the same movie. Ditto for Eastwood’s “High Plains Drifter” and “Pale Rider.”
Go back and look and Goldie Hawn’s movies after “Private Benjamin” and see how many of them are about insecure women who blossom when challenged.
When the game is under control, keep running the football!
i like amanda – shes a role model – and i dont mind if she has puffy nipples – shes the best!
if her nipples are as puffy as her cheeks – I’m into it…
is it just me or do all funny women tend to end up with either an airhead image or a tomboy image? i dunno, it just seems that funny women always play the “laugh at me, i’m stupid” card or the “laugh with me, i’m one of the guys” card.
as for amanda bynes, she’s got damn good comic timing no matter what card she plays… and i totally respect her for keeping her body clothed and drug-free. i’ll even let her off for looking the same colour as a basketball. more power to her.
Does Disney or Nickelodeon have control of her? She needs new representation. And she needs to go back to acting school. She’s got the slapstick down pat, but she definately needs to work on her ‘serious’ acting.
Her fan base doesn’t get bored all that easily. My 10 year old can watch the same episode of any of those Disney channel shows over and over. Personally I hope she continues to make movie’s geared towards pre-teens and teens. They need a few role models that aren’t trashy.
I love Amanda Bynes and can watch What A Girl Wants every night of the week. The Office had it right when they compared her to Bob Hope (touch of sarcasm in that…). At any rate, the other posters have it right — it’s refreshing to have a young girl other girls can look up to who seems to have a good head on her shoulders and isn’t rail thin.
I guess what I find most disturbing about this article is that the author found an assesment of Amanda Bynes career a worthwhile pursuit. She’s (Ms. Bynes) pretty run of the mill and her turn in Hairspray was forgettable bordering on bad. Who had a spray on tan in the 60′s?
That’s what she does, and she should just be happy to get work because her acting is so poor. I can’t take her seriously.
Bynes’ career is right on track. She did the kids t.v. thing, got through her teen years on the sitcom, did a couple of successful high school movies, and this is now her college movie, where she gets to play older. She may do one more of those and she’ll be ready to graduate to young woman romantic comedies, and from there, action, drama, anything she wants. And she does so not as Justin Long or Shia LeBeouf’s arm candy like other starlets, but as the leading lady. She is building a reliable body of work that shows she can open a movie, with her role in Hairspray showing that she’s also valuable for ensembles. If she doesn’t go off the rails, like Lindsay Lohan, she’s going to have a very nice career.
I think “Hairspray” will prove to be a turning point in her career, and that she can evolve to more challenging roles, while still keeping her dignity.
I had no idea she had puffy nipples like me – that makes me like her even more
what’s the rush? i for one don’t need to see ask ashley as a drug addicted skank. she’s 20 let some life happen before she starts pursuing adult roles. the movies she’s doing are perfect for her audience and for her age.
