As a huge Beatles fan, I was really looking forward to the long-delayed musical Across the Universe (starring Evan Rachel Wood, left). Read the full post.

I really enjoy Pearl Jam’s cover of “Hide Your Love Away”. Pearl Jam does justice to all the songs they cover!
Definitely enjoy Amiee Mann and Michael Penn’s Two of Us. I also love Kim Weston’s Eleanor Rigby and Allison Krauss’ I Will (which I used on my wedding CD and didn’t know was a Beatles cover until I heard the original on the classic rock radio station this summer).
Aretha’s “Eleanor Rigby” and Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Dear Prudence.”
Got to echo the comments on Rufus Wainwright’s “Across the Universe”. I prefer it to the original….and I like the original!
Seek out The Stereophonics cover of ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ when you have time. They are a British band with only a minor rock radio hit or two in North America a few years back, but their version is gritty, pure and sweet all at the same time. Very heartfelt stuff.
Paul Westerberg’s “Nowhere Man”…hauntingly good.
Carpenters: Ticket to Ride
Rufus Wainwright: Across the Universe
Aerosmith has two great Beatles covers. “Come Together” has already been mentioned, but they also do a really good “I’m Down” on the Permanent Vacation album.
Rufus Wainwright ‘Across the Universe’
Ray Charles’ Eleanor Rigby is pretty sweet.
definetly william shatner doing lucy in the sky with diamonds.
I think Across the Universe looks terrible.
However, my favorite Beatles cover is Fiona Apple’s “Across the Universe.” Her lush, haunting vocals do the song justice.
Cheap Trick’s “Day Tripper”.
Dave Matthews Band did a live cover of “Blackbird” that is INCREDIBLE. It’s 8 minutes with this killer piano solo..mmm sooo good.
Fiona “Across the Universe” all the way!
