As a huge Beatles fan, I was really looking forward to the long-delayed musical Across the Universe (starring Evan Rachel Wood, left). Read the full post.

80′s doom metal band Trouble did a cover of “Come Together”. It was pretty good. However, during the last chorus, rather than saying, “over me”, the singer says, “stop the war”. At first, I thought that was pretty cool. It would have been more clever had there been an actual war going on at the time.
Aussie cover from way back when. “Dear Prudence by Doug Parkinson Infocus”. Zoot was a teeny bopper band Doug had balls.
I like the velvety smooth version of Karen Carpenter’s Ticket To Ride. I didn’t like it at first, because the tempo was slowed down to a crawl and I just didn’t get that. I have since fallen in love with it because it is so different from the original. It doesn’t sound like they were trying to imitate the Beatles. I also like U2′s version of Helter Skelter. I must admit, though, only Paul McCartney does justice to that song (Helter Skelter). I have come to really enjoy it beacuse it makes me feel empowered. I saw Paul in concert in Toronto in 2005 and perhaps his version is (dare I say it) better than the original Beatles version.
Greetings Mates!

Hello everyone!
Valentines Day is within a few days and I want to purchase my gf something cute.
Any recommendations? Oh and does anybody know where I can order cheap bouquets ? I want to preorder flowers for her for starters.
I was also thinking of making her a cd of all her favorite songs. Anyone have any free itunes codes? haha
THANKS!
Charles River Valley Boys-’Ticket to Ride’ which reinvents the song in bluegrass mode. The whole album of their Beatles songs is worthwhile-’Beatle Country’. And my own favorite is ‘Something’ by Perry Como. Don’t presuppose it’s glop–he really respects the song and means every word.
I’ve just made a list of my favorite covers. Click on a link below, you can stream them all for free:

Speaking of the best beatles cover song. Here’s a poll. You can play all tracks and vote here: http://moozone.com/playlist/1403
The covers in Across the Universe turned out pretty well, in my opinion. Most noteworthy were the Gospel version of “Let It Be” and the emo take on “I Want to Hold Your Hand”. My favorite cover, however, would have to be Fiona Apple’s “Across the Universe”.
Michael Jackson – Come Together. Saw it live – awesome.
