And the first runner-up for this blog post’s headline is… "No, this will not be another enthusiastic plug for Vanessa L. Williams in the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Category." That said, if for any reason the winning headline is not able to complete its duties, the first runner-up will be asked to step in and take its place.
Seriously, though, P-Dubs, with the Emmys less than a week away, it’s time to break out the homemade banners and declare your support for your absolute favorite nominee. And while I have to admit that 30 Rock probably gave me my biggest laugh of the season — courtesy of its "There is nothing like New York in the spring!" moment (watch it after the jump) — I’ll be rooting hardest for Ugly Betty, the series that gave us "Did you just gesture at me when you said Kwanzaa?", come Sunday night. After all, Betty not only has the highest laughs-per-minute ratio on TV, but it also has the most snubs-per-supporting-cast tally among Emmy nominees. (Check out the Becki Newton highlight reel, also after the jump, if you don’t believe me.)
Anyhow, now that I’ve declared my not terribly surprising Emmy loyalties, it’s your turn. So riddle me this: Which show or actor absolutely needs to win an Emmy on Sunday? I dare you to narrow your list to just one! (And if you need a refresher course on the nominees, just in case you still can’t believe Battlestar Galactica’s not on the list, click here for EW.com’s cheat sheet.)

I’ve said since last season that if Alec Baldwin does not win, the Emmy people are beyond hopeless.
Jenna Fisher from The Office–she’s sweet and funny and a total underdog. Love her!
I’ll be very satisfied when Vanessa or any of the GA women win their respective catergories. I am still beyond shock that “Lost” got dicked over. Boo!
Ugly Betty is totally over rated. It has a few laughs, but it’s a lot like Desperate Housewives (too campy with ridiculous story lines). Guarentee that in a few years, Ugly will be sooooo over!
im mainly (if only) watching to see Rainn Wilson win that Emmy for his now classic Dwight Shcrute(sp)
im not sure who else is nominated
Definitely Jenna Fischer.
See, that wasn’t so hard!
Anything Office related… Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer and Best Comedy!
of the shows nominated in the drama category, the sopranos is by far the best (although, not better than the wire).
OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE OFFICE
How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris is taking that Supporting Actor in a Comedy. I love the boys from Entourage in that category but NPH is hilariously perfect as Barney!
Alec Baldwin definitely! No one wants to see Tony Schaloub (sp?) win yet another Emmy no matter how good he is and Steve Carell already won. Also, Neil Patrick Harris is the only reason that I sometimes watch How I Met Your Mother. Since we’re not supposed to mention how much we want Vanessa L. Williams to win I’m not sure what else to write.
Neil Patrick Harris for How I Met Your Mother. Hands down is the best! … Ok, and one more
Kyra Sedgwick for The Closer.
I’m having a hard time deciding between Neil Patrick Harris and Rainn Wilson. I love them both so much. The Amanda highlight reignited my anger that Becki Newton wasn’t nominated. For shame!
If I had to just pick one it would have to be Hugh Laurie for House. The man’s a genius.
Since Connie Britton for “FNL” (Shame!), I’ll say Neil Patrick Harris for HIMYM. Um, or Vanessa Williams for “Ugly Betty.”
Michael Emerson – Lost
Meant to say: Since Connie Britton wasn’t nominated for “FNL” (Shame!), I’ll say Neil Patrick Harris for HIMYM. Um, or Vanessa Williams for “Ugly Betty.”
oops.
Add another vote for Hugh Laurie. James Gandolfini and James Spader have multiple Emmys. Do they need more? No.
Jenna Fischer hands down. Not only was she the heart and soul of season 3, but she’s hilariously funny without being flamboyant about it. Her awkward flirting scene with Jim alone (where she rambles on about the wonders of sleep) should qualify for an Emmy award.
Drama Series: The Sopranos (that last episode alone is historic.)
Actor: Hugh Laurie – House (If they had actually nominated great performances this would have been a tight race, but they nominated actors in shows that had weaker seasons)
Actress: Sally Field (come one we like her, right now we really like her.)
COMEDY SERIES: Ugly Betty
Actor in a Comedy: Ricky Gervais
Actress in a Comedy: America Ferrara
I would love to see either Micheal Emerson or Terry OQuinn from lost take home an emmy in their category, if only because Lost is such a good show that should have recieved more recognition. Both men as so talented and deserve the win. Also, love Jenna Fisher from the Office.
Only one? If only one, I’d say Michael Emerson from Lost for best supporting actor. But I can’t choose just one: Hugh Laurie should also win for his category—he’s amazing and long overdue for an Emmy.
(And since I’ve already chosen more than one—sorry—I’d also choose Elizabeth Mitchell to win best supporting actress, regardless of the fact that the nominating committee blew it royally by not nominating her.)
Hugh Laurie…but mainly because I want to see another wickedly hilarious acceptance speech from him.
Jenna Fischer
JENNA FISCHER. hands down. and anything OFFICE. they deserve the limelight this time around.
I had to read through the list to muster up any sort of caring. But then at the bottom I see The Late show with Conan O’Brian. I think the only cheering I’d do is if he won.
Best Comedy: 30 Rock
Best Actor: Alec Baldwin
Best Actress: America Ferrera
Best Supporting Actor: NPH!
Best Supporting Actress: Vanessa Williams
Best Drama: The Sopranos
Best Actor: James Gandolfini
Best Actress: Sally Field
Best Supporting Actor: Michael Emerson
Best Supporting Actress: Sandra Oh
I want Jenna Fischer so badly to win. More than anything else at the award show.
30 rock needs to win for best comedy, that show is hilarious!! also Rainn Wilson is just on another level and must win best supporting actor
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
Tony Shalhoub CANNOT win Best Actor in a Comedy Series again! So I’d LOVE to see Alec Baldwin win for “30 Rock” and, if not him, I’d be perfectly happy is Steve Carell takes the prize for “The Office” (Carell’s won the Golden Globe, but not the Emmy)
