So, while everyone else is buzzing about Britney’s less-than-stellar VMA performance, Chris and I were wondering what everyone thought about Sarah Silverman’s monologue. In the spirit of our subject, we couldn’t help but get a little controversial….
Chris: So, what’d you think of Sarah Silverman’s VMA monologue!?!?
Bethonie: Who is this? Are you God’s black friend?
Chris: In a way.
Chris: I am God’s gift.
Bethonie: To whom?
Chris: The Internet.
Bethonie: Watch your mouth!
Chris: Did you watch Sarah’s mouth? That was mad gross.
Bethonie: Oh yeah, the sideways shtick…
Chris: She distended her lips to resemble Britney’s box
Bethonie: That was "disgrossting," to quote Paige from Degrassi.
Chris: Yeah I REALLY didn’t like that. It made me uncomfortable.
Bethonie: You know I love Silverman. Love her! But I think she went a bit toofar.
Chris: Yeah I love her too, especially when she is racist.
Bethonie: I mean Britney’s kids. Come on?!
Chris: Britney said that herself, according to various news sources that I frequent.
Bethonie: US Weekly = news source?
Chris: What do you think the "US" stands for? It is thenational news.
Bethonie: Underground Salaciousness.
Chris: That’s a big word…like "trampoline." You must write for PopWatch. But anyways, her stuffabout 50 and Kanye was pretty funny. Her diarrhea joke was just lazy and not as"cute" as I think she’d hoped. I really don’t think celeb roasting isher forte.
Bethonie: Yeah. She’s been watching too much Cookie Party, I think. Although…..
I’m kinda tired. Maybe if I use Silverman’s line… I canleave early, no harm, no foul.
Chris: I’ve seen you running to the bathroommad times.
Bethonie: So I have an ally in my excuse!
Chris: Her show is funny because she’s offensive to everyone and her"character" doesn’t even realize or care, but singling out individuals makes her seem more mean.
Bethonie: Yeah, it’s better when she just generalizes about whole groups ofpeople. Who doesn’t love a good racial joke?
Chris: Sho ‘Nuff. Making blanket statements about race is always hilarious.
Bethonie: Also, I think the way she said "orifices" was really funny.
Chris: The notion of her talking to Cee-Lo is also funny to me. That would be an amazing conversation
Bethonie: Actually, I think she should sit down with all of Goodie Mob. Perhapsshe could bring them together once more.
Chris: Indeed, that would be insanely fresh.
Bethonie: I love how it says Update: Commenting is temporarily unavailableon Sarah’s website under her monologue. How political!
Chris: I heard she dresses in blackface for the new season of The SarahSilverman Program, so that should really win back anyone she offended.
Bethonie: Oh dear. I’d have to call Spike if she did that.
Chris: No, she’s on Comedy Central.
Bethonie: I meant Spike Lee, silly goose.
Chris: I thought you meant Spike TV, home of the Video Game Awards. Arguablybetter than the VMAs.
Chris: Since the whole ceremony was so "experimental," having afaux host do an opening monologue was basically a waste of time.
Bethonie: Don’t you think the laughter is kind of uncomfortable when Sarah saysthat Cee-lo was really Kanye West?
Chris: Diddy has a funny expression. He seems confused then amused. 50 wasreally loving it — He was just happy she mentioned him and not ‘Ye.
Bethonie: Guess we know which album Silverman will be purchasing on Tuesday.
Chris: She really just cracked that tough facade and brought out 50’s innerjoy. What a wonderful moment. But then she did talk about Kanye, thus ruininghis night.
Bethonie: 50 will get over it. See! She CAN reunite Goodie Mob. We HAVE to gether on the phone
Chris: If I called her, it would be to holler, not to reunite a rap group. And since she already got jiggy with God… my chances are pretty, pretty good.
Bethonie: Don’t you abide by that rule of honor — that you don’t get jiggy withyour friend’s exes? I’mappalled. And think God would be too, quite frankly.
Chris: Yeah I guess so, since it’s a "commandment" or whatever.
Bethonie: so what’s our verdict?
Chris: At the end of the day, Sarah Silverman put about as much effort intoher monolgue as Britney did into her performance.
Bethonie: I agree. Silverman should stick to her show (and perhaps a career inreuniting ill rap groups)
Chris: Agreed. Within the scheme of one of the most boring shows ever, shewas still a highlight for me. The only other parts I liked were when theyshowed Walerapping and the beginning of
Chris Brown’s performance — now there’s a young manwho I’ve really change my mind about!?
Bethonie: Love Chris Brown!
Chris I am gonna go play a computer game that will take up my whole screen.Bye!
Bethonie: Peace!

I’ve never found Sarah Silverman very funny. Watching a pretty girl say dirty things is not my idea of funny.
Plus, she was really harsh to Britney and to Paris at the movie awards.
While I don’t find Sarah Silverman funny anyway, there’s a difference between someone not being your taste and someone blowing a set. She blew that set. The audience barely even tittered. And as much as Brit brings things on herself (or Paris with her shenanigans), the fact is, you don’t go after kids. You just don’t.
She was not funny last night, at the MTV Movie Awards, or ever… does anyone actually like her? That annoying voice! Why can’t we go back to the Chris Rock hosting days… MTV, get her off your award shows!
A PopWatcher posted it perfectly last night by claiming that if you really thought Sarah’s words for Spears’ kids were harsh, just think of the damage that Britney herself is doing to those two poor adorable darlings! I’m not going to comment on her weight, but she should have exercised SOME thought & donned a costume not showing so much stomach, show some CLASS you’re a MOM NOW! I laughed out when Silverman morphed her mouth into Brit’s vaginal lips! That alone showed she had at least practiced more on her monologue than Britney did on her entire show opening! SAD! SAD! SAD! If Silverman’s monlogue does nothing more than to wake up Britney about what she REALLY needs to do for proper “come back”, than so be it. But she has become so accustomed to being a star, that she forgot, it means you’re actually expected to do something worthy entertaining wise. Unless brit’s master plan is to just now become the butt of ALL jokes, good or bad, than yes, I agree HER COME BACK WAS OFF THE CHARTS!
Um…is it just me, or was that entire conversation meandering and incoherent?
Hey now! I only temporarily stopped commenting on the Sarah site because my server has gone crazy today! You can however still read all 346 hateful comments directed towards Sarah if you desire.
Yeah I’m kinda tired of talking about the Britney fiasco from last night. Anyone agree with me?
i liked the 50 joke. it is cute that a person shot 9 times is still alive.
Yeah, I agree that going after Spears’s kids was just mean. I fnd maybe 20% of what Silverman says funny. The rest just seems like shock for shock’s sake, which is never funny to me. It’s the reason Andrew Dice Clay ain’t around anymore. While I don’t think fluff was needed, she could take a few cues from Oscar hosts like Steve Martin who are able to make fun of people without being cruel.
@Marci “Plus, she was really harsh to Britney and to Paris at the movie awards.”
Yeah, Marci, the LAST thing Britney or PAris need is a harsh reality check to wake them from the entitled, delusional world they live in. I wish MORE people were harsh to them, so they would be kinder, stop drinking, drugging, and driving, and in Brit’s case endangering her children. No, Marci, let’s not be “harsh”, lets enable them like their stupid families and handlers and hangers-on, because it will be much more entertaining when they end up DEAD in their own vomit like Anna Nicole, won’t it?
The Only GUARANTEED sure thing after Silverman ripping into Britney is that I guess Brit won’t be stopping by Jimmy Kimmel to promote her new cd come Nov. 13th…SNIFF SNIFF
NO Stephen, until Britney releases the video for “Gimme More” which at this point, no matter how good it is, its going to suck, this is all anyone has to comment on her about until the cd comes in Nov. But I have to agree, as hard of a time I’m giving Britney, the VMAs had a select few honest-to-goddness MOMENTS, while as a whole, it was a dis-organized mess that seems it was directed & produced by someone whose A.D.D. made them think this was the best idea in the world (on paper)! How many actual awards were given out during the show? 4? 5? I think Lily Allen benefited the most by not having a work visa to attend, & Amy Winehouse mist have actually won an award if she showed up, but whos to say their performances with DJ Mark Ronson would have been any better than Akon’s, Daniel Merriweather, or Adam Levine’s?
What I meant was I have the same exhaustion I felt during June when Paris went to jail. She’s everywhere. And I thought the show was a fiasco from beginning to end, except for the gleaming gem that is Alicia Keys. Also, I read MTV wanted to focus more on performances than awards, because it’s not like it’s an awards show or anything
I was waiting for Sarah to pull a *tap *tap “is this thing on?” during her set. I don’t know what was more awkward, her laughless gig – or the bewildered faces of the audience.
To Strepsi:
Wow, I’m so sorry that I seemed to personally offend you by stating my opinion. I’ll try not to do that in the future.
Paris and Britney are celebrities, yes, but they’re first and foremost people who deserve a little kindness. It’s fine to make fun, to a point, but Silverman frequently crosses that line.
Do Paris and Britney need a reality check? Yes. But is that reality check really gonna come from an b*tchy, unfunny comedienne? No.
My theory is that MTV told her to be as inappropriate as possible so that people would be talking about it the next day. Mission accomplished.
Hey EW, stop doing fake conversations. It is a waste of space.
Silverman BOMBED.
And apologizing to Paris Hilton for her wicked comments last June didn’t help either.
I thought Sarah was hilarious, Britney deserves what she gets for being a terrible person and who cares if she sad the kids were a mistake. They are a mistake because Britney doesn’t deserve to be a “mom” to anybody.
This woman is not funny at all. It’s hard to offend me with comedy, but I think she went over the line in making fun of Britney’s babies.
I still hope Britney make a great comeback. I think that if the media didn’t pick on her so much, she wouldn’t do some of the silly things she does. I blame the media for her actions.
Sarah….you lack class and the art of being funny. To verbally attack someone
in front of millions of viewers for laughs (at another persons expense) is beyond words. And to take it a step further and mention her kids as “mistakes” is just rude & heartless. The only mistake here was letting you
take the stage and TRY to be funny.
You are pathetic
This message is for KIMBERLY..
If God felt Britney didn’t deserve kids,
He would not have blessed her with these
children….God does NOT make mistakes
b4 you judge someone, get to know them
first….none of us know Britney or what she is dealing with in her life.
Instead of judging her, try praying for her and yourself
Chris I am gonna go play a computer game that will take up my whole screen. Bye!
Bethonie: Peace!
I loved that!
215.Sarah Silverman should have never lashed out at Britney’s children; it was not only rude but downright unethical! Fine, make fun of her but leave the children out of it! They did not ask to be here. Sarah Silverman should be fired for what she said; that was not at all comedy, that was a disgrace of MTV to allow such a reprehensible monologue. Yup, she definitely is obviously bitter about something, maybe because her eggs are as bitter and old as she is
Free country. Everyones mad cus they don’t have the balls to say it first.
I think it’s funny that people are so offended by what Sarah said about the kids. First, the joke was clearly made more about Brit possibly calling her own children mistakes than about the children. Second, is someone going to tell the kids what she said? I’m sure their feelings will be crushed because I’m sure at the ages of 1 and 2 they’ll understand. Was Sarah crude? Sure. What did ya expect? I thought it was brave and if an of the celebrity’s in attendance were brave they would have laughed. I bet they wanted too.
I don’t think Britney’s kids are off limits (although I’m kind of beyond laughing at Britney at this point, she’s just too pathetic,) but Sarah Silverman has always been painfully unfunny and her performance last night was no exception.
The attacks on Britney’s kids don’t bother me that much, but Sarah just plain sucked last night. If you watch clips of her making fun of Paris at the MTV Movie awards there’s a huge difference between the crowd reaction she got that night compared to last night. Sarah looked as embarassed and lost with her routine as Britney looked during hers.
Sara Silverman is not funny, thus she resorts to just being crude, which as it happens, still isn’t funny.
no her kids won’t understand it at ages 1 and 2, but with youtube and our age of technology, they will understand it the day they see it.
