Everyone knows that thanks to the magic of MySpace, we can all be "friends" with famous people. Even famous dead people. But did you know that you can also buddy up with famous inanimate entities? Neither did I, until my cubicle neighbor Adam Markovitz happened upon the personal site of Love in the Time of Cholera — y’know, this fall’s Oscar-bait film adaptation of the classic novel by Gabriel García Márquez.
Like any prospective friend, I wanted to know a little more about this Love person before signing on. Good thing it filled out that MySpace profile! Turns out Love in the Time of Cholera is a 27-year-old woman living in the U.S. Who knew? And she’s got plenty of cool friends: Her all-important Top Eightincludes Benjamin Bratt and John Leguizamo, who both appear in themovie, and Shakira, who’s working on the soundtrack, as well as regularfolks like "Roxy," "Johnny Faith," and "Endless Mike." (Co-stars JavierBardem and Giovanna Mezzogiorno, meanwhile, are conspicuously absent. Talk about a snub.) Most importantly of all, Love in the Time of Cholera is single, her sign is Capricorn, and she doesn’t want kids. What are you waiting for, magical-realism lovers? Message her now!
Anyway, P-Dubs, are you MySpace friends with any movies or TV shows? And if you are… um, why?

I’m friends with Heroes, Weeds, and characters from The Office. I had also befriended Hairspray and DJ Motormouth Maybelle, but they’re gone now
I’m friends with Drama from “Entourage,” because–frankly–who wouldn’t wanna be friends with him?
I’m still friends with “The Carver” from Season 3 of Nip/Tuck…that carver storyline was red hot at the time, but I’m still not sure why I haven’t removed him from my friends since.
I’m friends with Borat, Ratatouille, and, of course, Gorillaz!
i have a better question…ummm why have a myspace at all? & its not like you are actually talking to the celebrities anyways…
To FLIRT, becca, celebrities are so NOT the point. Who wants to talk to celebrities anyway? Ew, shallow much?
I was asked by CONFIDENTIAL, a movie set in Iraq, to be its friend. Can’t turn down a request like that, can I? Particularly when it had Dick in it.
I’m friends with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” because it is the funniest show on tv and deserves all of the advertising they can possibly get.
I’m friends with Veronica Mars because I wouldn’t want to be on her bad side if she were a real person! Also, that was a great show.
I’m friends with My Name Is Earl because they had a contest last year and I can’t bear to say goodbye. I’m also friends with Sex and the City because, well, why not?
I am friends with “Firefly”. I don’t have a better reason other than, I am a fan of the show and the movie “Serenity” and it is a way to let others see something about my interests.
I am not friends with any TV shows or movies, but I am friends with “entities” along the lines of humanitarian organizations and magazines, and with a few famous folk such as people from “The Office” and Edgar Wright. Being friends with a TV show or movie is a lot like being friends with a band or a famous person (dead or alive): You’re friends because you like them. I try to limit (at least a little bit) my non-real-friends friends and don’t mind giving props to people and projects I like.
I’m friends with “Clerks 2,” because when it came out last year, you were entered into some kind of sweepstakes if you friended it. I didn’t win a prize, though.
90% of my “friends” on myspace are not real… my top 20 consists soley of marvel characters… im also friends with the cast of saved by the bell, 90210 and arrested development… im also friends with tony the tiger, an egg and a lamp… lamp loves me
I’m friends with Pete Yorn, The Shins, The Scissor Sisters, Jenna/Pam (from the Office), and How I Met Your Mother. Its a great way to keep up with what they are doing, because they’ll send out a bulletin when they release a new album/episode, etc. Oh, and I’m friends with Zach Braff because I think he’s cute.
Heroes, assorted Firely/Serenity pages, several movies like Stardust, Superbad, etc. It’s a way to get updates, special offers, sneak previews, soundtrack clips, and more. And it provides links for visitors to follow if they share your interests, which is part of the point of MySpace.
I was friends with Veronica Mars because the show had a contest where a randomly drawn MySpace friend would win Veronica Mars DVDs and other VM merch. As a fan of Veronica any chance to grab some Veronica Mars stuff is a chance worth taking.
I’m friends with “America’s Next Top Model,” because I’m FIERCE!
I am friends with the documentary “Black Gold” because it is an interesting take on the coffee industry. I liked what the film tried to do in informing us about where that cup of joe comes from.
im friends with the movies “Imagine Me & You” and “Loving Annabell” and im also friends with the book “Smashed”
Pan’s Labyrinth but I think I deleted them once they came out on DVD.
