Uhura joins Sulu on 'Heroes'

Categories: Heroes, Star Trek

Nichelle_lYes, yes, you don’t need me to tell you how cool it is that they keep casting actors from Star Trek: Original Flava on Heroes. Still: first Sulu, now Uhura. (Warning: some mild spoilers in this TV Guide story about the character Nichelle Nichols, pictured, will play on Heroes.) As my wife says, "Now, if they would just cast William Shatner, I could be happy and go to heaven." What say you, Bill? Surely walking around saying "Denny Crane!" all day has lost its novelty, yes? It’s time for you to return to NBC and acquire some superpowers. All hailing frequencies are open, Captain.

Sounds good for Ms. Nichols to join, but only if it’s part of the Richard Roundtree, flashback story arc. Otherwise, just tiresome.

I don’t watch heroes, but that is so cool about Uhuru.

It should be noted that Dominic Keating from Enterprise (Malcome Reed) will be joining the cast as well but given the fact that Popwatch tends to forget the contribution Star Trek has made to popular culture I don’t expect them to take notice. Slezak you dissapoint me.

Not so much stunt-casting as a wink to the nerd herd which probably comprises 50-75% of Heroes audience.

AWESOME! As part of that NERD HERD I say I can’t wait to see Ms.Nichols “meet” George. ;) Personally I hope she’s related somehow to the Haitian and we finally get more story about him and his relationship to Mrs.Petrelli.

  • Yeaaahhh!

Rock on! Now we got Sulu ,Uhura and they guy who’s going to play Spock

If Shatner joined the show, Takei would leave. He hates him with a passion.

I would stop watching Heroes if William Shatner joined the show. When Sulu joined the cast it was neat little nod to nerdom. However, Takei fit the part of Hiro’s dad and the neccesary language. Where would Shatner fit into Heroes? It is an ensemble show, with varying focuses on different characters as the story arc progresses. Shatner has too much “star power” and would draw focus away from the other characters. Plus, he has become a self-parody ala Adam West and David Hasslehoff.
