Good morning, Pop Watchers! Okay, I know, it may not actually be morning when you’re reading this, but I still can’t get that catchy ditty "Good Morning Baltimore" from Hairspray out of my head. (Damn you, brilliant songwriting of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman!) Lucky for me, New Line has arranged a bunch of special Hairspray sing-a-longs this weekend: Selected theaters across the nation (though, ironically, none in Baltimore) will show the hit musical and encourage audience members to belt out the film’s tunes with their fellow Zac Efron wannabes. Just like those Sing-A-Long Sound of Music fiestas that have been so popular. Sounds like fun, huh? Are you looking forward to going out and unleashing your inner Nikki Blonsky? Well, hey, friends, if you happen to catch the event near where you live, do us a favor and report back. If, that is, you’re not too hoarse.

Baltimore never gets any love!
Oh wait, I moved! (see name change)
I loved the original movie with Rikki Lake and I LOVED the broadway show…and I cannot wait to see the new movie…John looks great as Edna!! HAIRSPRAY ROCKS!
Oh my lord, they are doing it in Albany? Nothing EVER comes to Albany (NY)!
Now, comes the plotting to get someone to join me…
YAYAYAY
I’ve been telling all my friends they should do this just like sound of music!!!
I found myself wondering tonight after watching High School Musical again if Jesse McCartney thought that his future as heart throb/pop star was in tact thanks to Summerland and the hit “Beautiful Soul” and that prepubescent, gap-toothed Zac Efron would ever be more popular than him. It pays to have a lifelong contract with Disney.

hilarious! will there be talent scouts there? I didn’tmake american idol but maybe this is my chance.
Oh, why did they schedule it for the same weekend as Chicago’s Fest for Beatles Fans? Any other weekend, and I’d totally be there.
The problem with these Sing-A-Long showings is it turns into a drag queen extravaganza. I took my daughter to the Sound of Music sing-a-long a few years ago expecting to have fun w/ other families. Instead, we left 30 minutes into the movie b/c they not only sang along but shouted out extremely crude comments at the dialogue being said up on screen. I don’t mind drag queens, transvestites. . whatever. But I DO have a problem with obnoxious and overly aggressive movie goers who have no regard for others around them. Am I being overly sensitive? Perhaps. But count me out of any future sing-a-longs.
zac efron is all the buzz, but what is the deal with this little twit??? This is what i found: http://collegecandy.com/buzz/4297
Aww yeah, take that Rocky Horror! A new floor show with even more popular appeal has arrived!
I’ve not seen this most recent remake, but may have to give it a shot this weekend. Doobie Doo!
There aren’t any in Baltimore because Baltimore is too cool for that crap.
When I saw the movie in Baltimore last week, people in the theater were definitely enjoying it, as I did. But on the way out, I heard a few people say the same thing I was thinking – “That was cute, for what it was, but it was no John Waters film.” Baltimoreans will always have a special place in their hearts for the original film, directed by their favorite son.
Oh, Zac. I adore the bugger. all shaggy-haired and enthusiastic in High School Musical and not trace of irony in his performance as Linc. I suppose with those big eyes of his all the tweens think he’s “dreamy” for the older ones – any imappropriate crushes out there?
I too suffer from innapropriate crush syndrome. He’s just too adorable during “Ladies Choice”. I plan on belting out all the songs with special attention being paid to “Good Morning, Baltimore” and “Without Love”-I’m a sucker for anything overly happy:) Any other takers in the Orlando area? I’m working on getting a group together.
