Happy 25th anniversary to Grease 2! And I’m sure many of you are thinking, "Um, why should I care?" Well, um, many reasons. The first is that there is a blog clearinghouse dedicated solely to all the bloggers out there who love the 1982 movie musical as much as I do. (And no, I’m not ashamed to admit it!)
Among the other reasons you should be ecstatic over a celebration of this awesome sequel:
- A young Michelle Pfeiffer was excellent as Stephanie Zinone, the rebellious Pink Lady who enjoys chomping on gum and singing about finding her "Cool Rider."
- What other flick has an entire scene in a bowling alley where the entire cast sings and dances to such provocative lyrics as: "Don’t get sore when you lose tonight, We’re gonna show you how to do it right. We’re gonna score tonight…"?
- Didi Conn reprised her role as the ditzy yet endearing Frenchy (she of the cotton candy coiffure), but luckily left her beauty school ambitions behind.
- During science class, the teacher and students break out into a number about reproduction with the key phrase, "Where does the pollen go?" I wish my high school classes would’ve been as lively as that!
So who’s with me on my love for Grease 2? And who’s running out right now to rent it because I was so persuasive? Anyone?

I’m with you “all the way” as DiMucci would say.
And some wonderful soul loaded most of the musical numbers on YouTube
Who needs to rent it? I own it!
I have to admit, I own Grease 2…on VHS. I loved it when I was in Junior High, and I’ll still watch it today. In high school, some girls actually recreated the “I’ll be your girl for all seasons” for a talent show. My personal fave is the song right after the bowling alley, when the mystery rider makes his first appearance. The words to that song are truly awful, and Caulfield can NOT sing. But, I love it anyway. What nerdy girl didn’t want the nerdy boy to get the popular girl, even though he was way too good for her and there was probably some perfectly wonderful girl who would have appreciated him without his motorcycle. Sorry about that…my high school self came out for a minute.
I’m with you, Leigh – I have my VHS copy and my DVD copy. Plus the soundtrack on both vinyl and CD. I’m a total fan! And I’ve been a huge fan of Michelle Pfeiffer ever since!
You forgot to mention the dreamy Maxwell Caufield! He made Dynasty II the Colby’s worth watching, and he’s certainly a highlight of Grease II.
Seriously, this may be the campiest film ever made in a field that includes “Mommie Dearest” and “What ever happened to Baby Jane?”
I know people call this movie campy but the lyrics are so funny and sharp. “Let’s do it for our country” and “Reproduction” are my favorites. And I loved the how the “good” boy changed his image/ways for the biker girl.
Grease 2 is 25 years old???? Man, I remember watching that movie over and over one summer during high school. And that makes me old too! Sob!
I am the biggest Grease 2 fan in the world. I know every line and song and expression. It is a classic for the ages. “Who’s That Boy?” “CoolRider” Girl for all Seasons” Lorna Luft et all. I lived for watching that movie as a kid and learned how babies are made. Remember the Doublemint twins? And Connie Stevens? Loved that someone else remembers!!
Wow. Does time fly… My brother and I watched this over and over one summer, and we knew ALL the lyrics to the songs by heart. It was just an awesome movie.
I’m a huge grease 2 fan, have to admit I have watched it more times than the original Grease.

“Who’s that guy?” “Where did he come from?”
“Who’s that guy?” “Where can I get one?”
YES! Finally – Grease 2 is getting some love! Best movie ever!
Love Grease 2! Ever since I first saw it, I’ve wanted a C-O-O-L-R-I-D-E-R of my own…
I love Grease 2 if for nothing else than Lorna Luft’s screeching, ahem I mean singing during “Bowl Tonight!” I fell in love with Michelle P., too after seeing that movie.
Grease 2 is the movie that everyone says they hate, but secretly love. I seem to remember singing the reproduction song to myself in HS biology at some point. The movie is so campy… so bad it’s good!
Why would I rent it? I have it recorded and protected on my DVR. I want a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R.
My proud tribute and the biggest G2 movie site on the net

Max Caulfield… hummunuh.
The T-BONES!!
Grease 2 = Crap
Do I love Grease 2? Well, its soundtrack is the first album I ever bought. And I own it on VHS, and I own it on BETA. Beat that.
Oh I will love to see!!!, I haven’t seen… check http://badmovieknights.com/ when you get time
I saw it when it came out (in a drive-in btw), and my friend bought the soundtrack and I listened to it that whole summer. I have it on DVD too, I just watched it about a month ago, I forgot how horrible it was…but still entertaining.
My sister and I were latch key kids during the summer of ‘83, and I think we watched it every time it aired on HBO. Great movie
“I want a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R! a coooool rider”
Man, I used to watch this movie ALL the time when I was younger. I need to fish out my old VHS copy!
P.S–> I also forgot the best song in the entire movie. .
“I gotta go back! (back!) Back to schoool again!
Geography and history is just a pain. . .”
After college I was waiting tables and was standing at the grill line with a friend waiting on my order to come up. All of sudden she yelled out “More ketchup! We need more ketchup!” (Stephanie’s line in the diner when she was being tutored by Michael). We immediately bonded over our love for Grease 2. Love it, love it, love it!
Grease 2 came out 4 months before I was even born, and I love it!!! My best friend and I sing the songs all the time and comment on how hilariously lame it is, but in a good way. That movie is on my list of favorites.
Come on. I loved this as a sixth grader, but any adult can see this is one of the worst movies ever. I tried to watch a bit of it on cable a few months ago and had to shut it off. It’s just bad.
Thank you, Lindsey Soll. I now have the words to “Reproduction” going through my head on a continuous loop. Thanks a lot. “I bet they don’t even know what a pistil is.” “I’ve got your pistil right here.” “Where does the pollen go?” Grrrrr.
