Quick: Someone tell me I’m not the only one who got sucked into ABC Family’s 10-hour Kyle XY marathon yesterday. I kept seeing ads for it Saturday, when I was nursing the world’s worst cold with repeat viewings of Au Pair and Au Pair II (they’re making an Au Pair III!!!), and I thought I should check it out. I wasn’t expecting to watch the entire thing— or to program my DVR to record new episodes, which begin tonight at 8 p.m. with the season 2 premiere.
In case you missed the season finale, here’s where we left off: the Trager family thinks amnesia-plagued Kyle (Matt Dallas, pictured) has his memory back and is driving home with his real parents. Actually, that couple took him to meet Adam Baylin, the University of Washington grad student who went missing in the mid-’80s (when he looked just like Kyle, with a mullet). Baylin’s supposed to have all the answers, but Tom Foss, the guy we all believed was evil but apparently isn’t, already gave Kyle a couple. He said Kyle doesn’t remember anything before the night he was found because he didn’t exist until that night, and that he, Foss, murdered Prof. Kern because Kern was going to kill Kyle. As we learned from the 8,000 promos for tonight’s premiere, the company that’s been hunting Kyle now plans to use a female version, Jessi XX, to exterminate him. I’m in! I just hope they keep Kyle, who will embrace his hero side this season, somewhat naive to the human world. Dallas does what he calls "the starry-eyed savant" so well.

Trust me, you are not alone. I got sucked in the middle of the first season, going so far as to purchase the episodes I missed on iTunes. Luckily, in a moment of weakness, I shared my love of the show with a couple of grad school friends, only to realize they secretly watched it as well!
I knew I wanted to watch the second season, so I DVRed the entire marathon yesterday. I totally thought I’d watch a few of them, then leave a few for tonight… but I wound up watching till the end. The mystery got really intense in the last few episodes! That’s a good thing, because the earlier episodes were a little too formulaic – Kyle learns about lying, Kyle finally falls asleep, Kyle gets “excited” for the first time. I was surprised at how endearing the show is, and that the Tragers are not one-dimensional. I hope he doesn’t stay away from them for long this season.
I actually got sucked into this show when it was first on ABC. I thought it was cancelled, but then found out some network person finally pulled their head out of their butt and put it on cable instead of cancelling it. Why doesn’t that happen more often?
Is it sad I’m totally disappointed about missing Au Pair I and II? Talk about guilty pleasures… ABC Family Channel is one of my biggest.
By the way, I’m pretty sure Kyle XY is an ABC Family original; they would have shown a few episodes on ABC as it was getting more popular, but it was never on the big ABC.
I think I’ve seen each episode at least four times. It’s so addictive. And I can’t wait for tonight’s return!
Actually, “Kyle XY” has always been an ABC Family Channel Show, but they aired a few episodes on ABC to attract more viewers. I’ve watched from the beginning. It can be formulaic, but there is just something about it that keeps bringing me back. I just finished watching the DVD’s. I watched the featurette on season 2 & now I can’t wait for the new episodes.
And the mom totally has that Joanna Kerns Growing Pains vibe going. She’s the best current TV mom by far.
O my goodness I couldn’t stop watching yesterday! I just turned the TV on and the next thing I new I was hooked and not doing any of the stuff I was supposed to!
I have watched it since the beginning, am really looking forward to it. One of my co-workers worked with Matt at the Gap before he became a star! Too much fun. Can’t wait!
I got suckered into it, too. Unfortunately, the Tony Awards came on and I ended up flipping between the two during the commercial breaks! Can’t wait for tonight’s premiere.
I actually watched the Pilot free from iTunes and then rented the entire season on DVD last weekend. This show is way better than it has any right to be. It’s got a ton of heart, interesting plotlines and a better than expected cast. Who knew ABC Family could do good original programming? And programming that isn’t watered down or overly stupid to cater to the “family” element. There’s swear words and sex and all kinds of material that you wouldn’t expect on an ABC Family original show.
I so got hooked too. My husband left the TV on ABC family while the marathon was running and then left the room. I was too lazy to turn it (and nothing else was on anyway), and next thing I know, I am completely hooked. I watched all the episodes until the end. I can’t believe I haven’t heard about this show, and I can’t wait to tell others about it.
My 11-year-old son and I have adored Kyle since the pilot last summer and have been waiting all year long for the return. Our favorite catch phrase is “Juice me!” But I have to say that I’m not sure I like the direction this new season is taking. Now that all the questions have been answered I don’t want it to be a good guys/bad guys run-of-the-mill series.
I watch Kyle XY on ABC on Fridays. I love the show. It’s worth watching and the cast are worth getting to know. Kyle XY has opened a lot of unexpected doors for me, particularly with podcasting and fan involvement on Kyle XY.NET (awesome forums by the way).
I’m SO GLAD Kyle XY was created. Who would have thought fan involvement in a TV series would have such an impact? =)
I totally got sucked in to Kyle XY last season, and last night’s episode. was. awesome. I actually thought I had all the mysteries figured out last season, but they definitely surprised me several times, and I was kinda off with some of my predictions. I won’t give anything away, just in case, but I will say that it was an amazing episode and if you haven’t seen it yet, DO IT!!! NOW!!
My boyfriend’s obsessed with this show (no doubt because Matt Dallas is exceedingly hot), but after getting past Mr. XY’s big blue eyes, I found out this was a really compelling show that does sci-fi mystery and family drama equally well. I can’t wait to see what happens with the latest developments this season!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE KYLE XY. Its a show that my whole family watches, when I come back from college over the summer, my brothers and sisters, ranging from age 3 to 16, and my parents, we all huddle in front of the tv and watch our famillies favorite show! Matt Dallas is a great actor and is super good looking. I can’t wait to see what the show has in store!
