Michael, what is up with EW and Fantasia? First they diss Summertime and now they are the ONLY publication to not rave about her performance in the Color Purple. She literally has the NY theatre critics in the palm of her hand. Someone at EW must really have it in for her.

Eh, it’s better than the putrid “Umbrella” but nowhere near “SOS”. And “Baby Makin’ Hips” would easily be the song of the summer if it was released. Why ya sittin on it Fantasia! (I dont know how well “not the way that i do” would do, but its probably the fiercest track off Fantasias album).
I think that THE ultimate summer song will be “Whine Up” by Kat DeLuna. You have to check that one out!
rihanna better slow down. too many albums too soon, but i liked “umbrella” and “shut up and drive” is pretty cool. and fantasia just released “when i see you”, so don’t expect “baby” to make it out this summer.

Umbrella is my SOS. Nothing will top it. I am blown away by the leaps and bounds she has taken and how unusual the song is. Plus, I have EW’s “A” review to defend me should any naysayers come along. Putrid my a$$!
I completely agree with Jason…RiRi is moving WAY too fast. Umbrella is my SOS too (yay Fatima!). The song’s far from dead…it should be making a huge jump on Billboard’s Hot 100 next week. So, why rush the second single? Reminds me of someone else associated with Jay-Z, but I digress. The song’s cute, and the husband actually pulled over when he heard the sirens!

Slezak come on! It’s called “Blue Monday”, not “How Does it Feel”. And the song is really fun and quite summery. “Baby Makin’ Hips” doesn’t have a hook or a tune, despite it having a horn-section. Try “Red Dress” by the Sugababes to get a much better 3:30 of your life. That is all.

The song of the summer is out, Michael! It’s called ‘Girlfriend’ by Avril Lavigne! C’mon, I’m not a kid by any means, but this song rocks!
I’m not sure either why this song is being rushed as a second single. “Umbrella”, in my opinion, is fabulous and one of my favorite of the year so far. But, more than that, there are at least three other songs on her new album (Don’t Stop The Music, Push Up On Me, & Breakin Dishes) that would make hot summer singles, esp Don’t Stop the Music. I guess third time is the charm for miss Rihanna to finally release an amazing first single coupled with an equally great album.
‘Girlfriend’ by Avril was better when it was called ‘Hey, I’m Gonna Be Your Girl’ and performed by The Donnas, and “Baby Makin’ Hips” betta be released because it’s is HOT!
Completely agree with Scotty! The BEST Rihanna track on the her new disc is “Don’t Stop The Music”, which I’m sure everyone ELSE will realize when the cd drops next Tues, June 5th! That should be the 2nd single, the beat is infectious & the Michael Jackson “Mama Say Ma-mu-sah” chant is a SUMMER SLAM! “Shut Up & Drive” is definitely a different kind of summer song, with its rolling guitar riffs, it does make you want to roll down the window and let your hair down, but with her nasal-y delivery on the track, My support goes to “Don’t Stop The Music”! I called out the Kat DeLuna & Elephant Man track as being the song of summer back in April, hope the young girl has some more heat where “Whine Up” came from!! Why can’t Rihanna put out one really good album instead of an album with one or two good singles on it every year? All of the songs that she has put out could have all been on one album, and she could have sold like, 10 million copies.

rihanna is such a great artist and has a great album. the top 5 song are rehab, push up on me, lemme get that, sell me candy, and say it. actually her album is so good i really could not decide. Her record label def jam is so stupid because rihanna could me platnum already if she had different singles. umberella is cool but shut up and drive and dont stop the music are the worst songs on her album. they dont know how to promote her right and that makes me upset.
