It’s been quite a weekend here in Cannes. I’m going to let Missy fill you all in on the dizzying highs and terrifying lows, because as I told you last week, I’ve been busy hanging with Michael Moore. (A lot more on him in the next couple of days, but suffice it to say Sicko is very different from what we’re used to seeing from him. It’s sober, relatively quiet, and genuinely sad.) But this morning, I’m busy recovering from A Mighty Heart, the true story of the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan.
My wife is as pregnant as Mariane Pearl (played in the film by Angelina Jolie) was at the time. We knew people in common. So I’m mildly shattered at the moment and plan to sit in a dark room for a while. I’ll get back to you soon.

Happy to hear the news about Sicko. Take care of yourself though.
This is not the kind of blog I want to read first thing Monday morning – sorry.
Daniel, I watched the preview for “A Mighty Heart” last night and felt relatively shattered just from 2 minutes, so I can imagine how you feel today. Take care. And thanks for your “Sicko” comments – I might now actually see it since it looks like Moore won’t be shoving his righteousness don’t my throat.
Good morning. I am really looking forward to seeing “A Mighty Heart” this summer. I know you have seen it at Cannes. Do you have a review of the movie. I have read only a couple reviews from the festival and both have been very positive. I’m curious to find out how you felt. Thank you.
I understand your wanting to sit in the dark and think about A MIGHTY HEART. Abduction is such a horrible act, and abduction and murder for making a political message is hard to stomach. But so is abduction for personal purposes, that which happens to hundreds of Pakistani women every year. Then there are those honor killings, which make me sit in a dark room and think. See my new book, Daniel, ONE WAY TO PAKISTAN which presents a very real view of other common happenings in Pakistan. http://www.haroldbergsma.com
