Ripoff? Or homage? You decide!

A friend turned me onto this awesome animated video for Fujiya & Miyagi’s "Ankle Injuries."

Seems kinda familiar, don’t it? Like, say, this 2002 video of The White Stripes’ "Fell In Love With a Girl" by director Michel Gondry? (Check out the earlier clip after the jump, then compare and contrast in the comments.)

So, PopWatchers, is the Fujiya & Miyagi video a ripoff of the Stripes’ clip? Or a brilliant homage that takes it to the next level?

I say homage. It’s not really similar enough to be a rip off and I think it takes it a step further. Both are awesome videos.

Man, it’s neither. It’s just two directors using a pixelized approach to their tasks at hand. If anything they both remind me of early computer games, but that’s because of how basic the graphics are.

Legos & dice aren’t the same.
