How to keep 'Gilmore Girls' and 'Veronica Mars' alive

Logans_lTo commemorate the series finale of Gilmore Girls tonight (as well as what may prove to be the penultimate Veronica Mars), my friend Cynthia has a suggestion she’d like to share with anyone out there who works in TV development:

Count me in with those who like Logan and who feel that he got the shaft with his treatment in the most recent Gilmore episode. If Veronica Mars gets canceled, I think there should be a new show on in the fall called Logan’s Crossing, with the Logans from each show (Gilmore‘s Matt Czuchry, left, and Veronica‘s Jason Dohring, right). They don’t have to interact: Each guy could get half an hour and at some point they can cross paths and it would switch to the other Logan’s story. In my mind, when they cross and the narrative changes from one Logan to the other, it’s a Touched By an Angel sort of moment. Like, they would have some subliminal awareness of it.

If we could get Della Reese involved, I think it’s network gold.

C’mon, PopWatchers! Who’s ready to rally behind this idea? And since it’s upfront season, does anyone have another pitch they’d like to share?

Uh, didn’t Czuchry already appear on Veronica Mars as a con-artist impersonating Logan’s long-lost brother?
Veronica in the FBI. Call it Agent Mars. Make it happen.

As much as I enjoy VM, I am starting to think it might be best for the show to leave the CW airwaves. If the network is going to continue forcing theis one episode arc nonsense (not to mention simplistic mysteries, ala the first half of this season), then let Rob and company ride off into the sunset with at least the first two seasons under their belt of pride. Either that, or let Rob and his writers (not to mention great cast) do what they do best, and give us a great season long mystery.

I’m not sad Rory dumped Logan. I mean, I liked the guy, but I liked JESS a lot more. Jess did things for Rory that Logan could never do. All Logan did was turn her into a needy, boyfriend-obsessed mindless yuppie. Jess never did that to her. Anyhow, a man was never in Rory’s future – her aspiring career as the next Christiane Amanpour was her destiny – so it’s not sad that Logan got dumped and won’t be on the final episode. But a cool spin-off from the show wouldn’t be bad as long as it has the dialogue.

sorry the last comment…i’m still bitter that GILMORE GIRLS is ending. I mean they waited until everything was filmed and left open before they cancelled it and things weren’t fully resolved and never will be.

I’m not even a Gilmore Girls of Veronica Mars fan, but I think this is the best idea ever!

Don’t apologize, Aramis. The networks, especially the lower rated ones,( NBC and CW) get cheaper and more stupid every year. Getting attached to a smart quirky show is just begging for trouble.

Czuchry already appeared on Veronica Mars as a con-artist impersonating Logan’s long-lost brother.

Oh, man, this is a great suggestion! I know a lot of people who’ll tune in to “Logan’s Crossing”! :)

Double your Logan, double your fun.
    I’d watch.

Am I the only one who couldn’t stand either of these characters?? GG started heading downhill fast as soon as Logan start showing up, and I never cared at all for the Logan on VM.

  • Angey in Roll

The Logans are secondary characters. GG had a great run and I would have liked them to have ended the show with the intention of ending it this year. As for Veronica, if it in fact gets cancelled, I will stop watching any CW shows! Or any new shows for that matter! Where the EFF is the Emmy love for Veronica and her pops! VM can not be cancelled! Please! Please Dawn!

Aramis, I am with you. Unfortunately, since reality TV shows are so cheap, and there will never be a shortage of losers, er, average Americans wanting to get on TV, we have to deal with it.Gilmore Girls rocks…..

Never watched Veronica Mars, Whit; kinda felt like it’s a show meant for kids. But I will mourn Gilmore Girls. How about Luke and Lorelai getting married tonight?

  • Chaddogg

If there is any justice in the fictional world, Rory ends up with Jess. By far the only guy who really “got” her, and the only guy who challenged her to be everything she could be.

  • Chaddogg

OH, and Joe C – Veronica Mars is most definitely NOT for kids. Arguably the most “adult” show build around a high school kid since “My So Called Life”, only without all the obnoxious angst.
