Little did I, a non-Idol-watching editor of EW, know what I was in for when I showed up at our L.A. bureau yesterday morning. Read the full post.

For an Idol virgin who only saw the first season of Kelly’s emotional rawness, please youtube Elliott Yamin singing “A Song for You” in April 2006. You’ll wonder why you missed out on last year. and why the wrong person won. P.S. Jordin’s name is not a misspelling.
Great blog – anyone who can work “Sophie’s Choice” and Erasure into the same blog – gets my vote!
Why don’t they do an 80′s synth pop night? Erasure is one of my all time favorite bands. Imagine – a show will all ABC, Erasure, Yaz, Depeche Mode – I’d be in HEAVEN!
Lonely Days & Jive Talkin’.
If only…
Wow! Blog virgin my a@@! Great post.
Great post, Ari! I would love to read more from you on PopWatch whether it’s AI-related or not.
I just finished watching last night’s episode on TiVo and yikes, Blake is screwed. I will be very, very surprised if he survives tonight.
Nice job, Ari. I’m with you, actingup – if Idol did an 80′s synth pop night, I’d be watching on my couch with bells on (and set my DVR just in case).
Ari – only one complaint. I can’t get Don’t Worry Be Happy out of mah haid!
But seeing the vid with clown prince Bill Irwin, who should be the king of everything, makes up for it.
I liked this blog, too! I would have hated those girls screaming behind me, too. Oh well, at least you seemed to enjoy yourself…a little.
Good job, Ari! I love how you pointed out Jordin’s name being mispelled. That has bothered me too. Maybe someone should point it out to Britney as well.
ari, where have you been? you should definitely be writing the idol blog. great job and not just because i agree w/everything you wrote.
Paula was telling Lakisha not to beat herself up over that last note, not the whole song. She was pretty good overall on it. I’m gonna miss her
Karpel is right in saying it’s between Melinda and Jordin, but to query ‘are they too similar?’ makes no sense. They are totally different…their singing style, demeanor, genre, age, height, etc. etc.
Where do you get that they’re similar??
this blog is too cool. you gave such a vivid picture of the nights events, which i unfortunately missed. keep up the great work!
Where the hell’s my ice?
