Moving to Friday night loaded the gun. Dennis Farina leaving, racked the slide and adding Greene’s new female partner, (NO chemestry and she sux,) along with the new ADA, pulled the trigger.
The previous cast was good and Farina’s Fontana, was terrific-the chemistry with Martin was easy to see and feel.
This is the first time I have not watched L&O in 16 years.

Keep it. But one piece of advice: stop trying to find some “hot new cast member” who will reinvigorate the show. The charm of Law & Order has always been that it’s old fashioned.

I’d certainly give it a fair chance on a reduced budget, a move to cable, or both. I’m horribly addicted to the show and would VERY much like to see it make it to it’s 20th season. The show has been so iconic – even people who don’t watch it know what “ripped from the headlines” means and are most likely familiar with the opening narrations and “chunk-chunk”. It’s helped pave the way for a lot of the more recent procedurals, and I think the cast and crew still have a lot to say. So why not give it a try with budget or casting changes? Whether it’s popular or not remains to be seen, but I have no doubt but that they’ll keep the quality high.

i still love l&o & watch it every week, tho i must admit i dvr it & watch it later. the biggest problem w/ l&o these days, & it’s been this way for many years now, is that it’s predictable. the defendant is always found guilty. in the beginning years, the verdict was always up in the air. no suspense. but i love my l&o & will watch it no matter what network it’s on. i even love the repeats.

Oh man, there are lots of haters of CI & SVU, I watch them for Noth (I miss his first partner, the new girl sucks) & D’Onofrio and Erbe. And man I love my eps of SVU. I think the original has seen its day. It wasn’t the same since Orbach and it’s hard to watch without him. Just keep the reruns going on TNT and I’m happy.

Keep the vets, lose the newbies. Replace them with people who can deliver the always bad dialog like actors in the past have been able to do.

I think that we need to consider just what turned people away from the mothership to begin with. Because, while I think it might be easy to blame the network for the time slot, I think that the show itself is suffering from a lot of different issues ranging from brand oversaturation to the revolving door getting faster and faster. I don’t think it’s an issue of the quality of the current cast, but rather an issue with how new this current cast is, and how many casts there have been in recent years.

I think the show is between a rock and a hard place, and perhaps spending its last season on TNT might allow it to redefine itself in a newly positive fashion…but I have my doubts.

i say it is about time for ADA jack mccoy to become DA jack Mccoy. no offense to fred thompson who has done an outstanding job. stop putting useless pretty faces as jack assistants. give them some substance. the last one who had any was elisabeth rohm. as for the cops, it doesnt matter what they do with them. the show has always been about the lawyers as with SVU is about Benson and stabler.

this show can be saved — even on friday night. miami vice and homicide both worked in that time. but the casting of the female cop is bad. not bc she is a female but because this particular female is boring. and they need a new assistant d.a. — maybe one that doesn’t agree with jack all the time. if you fix it, we will watch!
