I’m concerned, PopWatchers — concerned about a report in Radar Online that the producers of Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style are seeking a "more down-to-earth and fun" female cohost for the Project Runway mentor’s forthcoming series. Apparently, their fear is that the dapper design guru is "too highbrow" for some viewers. All of which makes me question Bravo’s taste level. I mean, is anyone who’s ever seen Project Runway expecting Gunn’s Guide to be the next Regis & Kelly? Half the fun of Gunn is the way his fussy mannerisms and couture adjectives are so above it all, and yet also endearingly earnest. He certainly doesn’t need some pesky Pomeranian nipping at his heels. Not that I don’t love Pomeranians in their own way, but you get my drift, right? Carry on debating in the comments section below.

Tim Gunn IS the show. I won’t watch if he’s not on.
ONLY acceptable sidekick is someone Tim himself works with/selects. Surely he has some fabulously flamboyant assistant or something??
Can anyone say “Dunkelman?” Please don’t dilute the Gunn–its so wrong!!! Now jet!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
That’s my brain screaming at the idea of a Lisa Rinna-type butchering Tim’s show…
Ridiculous! I love that I occasionally need to grab the dictionary when Tim Gunn is on. Why can’t we sometimes have smart tv?

Wait, let’s see if I understand. Tim Gunn rises to cultural icon status because of his Tim Gunn-ness. Project Runway fans fear the demise of the show when there were questions about Gunn’s schedule allowing his participation in season 4. His new show is eagerly anticipated by a loyal fan base. And the solution is to water down all that is Tim Gunn with some ditzy sidekick?
Bravo execs, may I suggest you Google “New Coke”.
WHY NOT Kate Moloney, his CO-AUTHOR as his CO-HOST? Seems to me that SHE has the “inside track” as HE picked HER to WRITE the book WITH HIM!!!! (And, YES,I’m SCREAMING!!!! All we need is ANOTHER Stacy London!!!!! ARGGH!!! Ellen Gill (sarmotisunshine@excite.com)
Why oh why do the network suits never seem to grasp that there is an audience out there in the world that does not like or need being condescended to? The fact that Mr. Gunn perceives style and design as serious, intellectual pursuits and discusses them accordingly is exactly what makes him so appealing in the giggly, sound-bitten world of fashion tv. To give him a botoxed 23-year-old sidekick to yip about shoes and look blankly at the camera would be to miss the point entirely.
It could be interesting if he puts the smack down on her every time she does something silly, a la DJ Dynasty Handbag in the Deep House Dish skits on SNL.
two words…laura. bennett.
One question…”Where is Andre?”
This is yet another example of gay men being paired with straight women to make American more accepting. It’s another way to separate Gunn from his sexuality, even though he publicly admits that he doesn’t even want a boyfriend. If they become the new “power couple pairing” on television, then there’s no hope for the gays anymore. I’d love to see just Gunn in all his “highbrow” glory. His personality is so unique he’d only get toned down with a “more down to earth and fun” female cohost. They didn’t have to say straight female cohost. What’re the odds Rosie’s going to do this next?
I swear to God if I see some nitwit ala Samantha Harris or Guiliana DePandi on Project Runway my corneas are going to spontaneously combust.
Dear God, please tell me they haven’t contacted Maria Menounos.
ooooh….Laura Bennett! Yes, yes, yes!!!!
Haha beelkay – ooo weee T-Shane! You just created a crawl space beneeth your all-time low! Love that sketch.
I need Tim Gunn like a heart needs a beat. Too much sturm and drang, as he would say.
I think it’s a good idea. He and Heidi have always had pretty good chemistry. As long as the cohost is knowledgeable and likable, what’s the harm?
Tim Gunn is great the way he is and so is the show. (Except please no more crazy people haters like Jeffrey. TOO MUCH on my ear drums!!)
There is no need for some dumb side-kick. Oh no, is Katie Lee Joel available??
If I were forced into watching such a blatant and obvious lack of judgement on the part of network execs (who probably enver watch the show)I wouldn’t mind Andre or Nick. I love Laura but not a good fit.
Love the “New Coke” analogy. That’s the best -are you reading this execs- comment of all!!!
oh, HELL NO. that would be some serious ugly going on in there. i’m verklempt.
I think he should get matched up with Jaslene of this years America’s Next Top Model. ohh, imagine the unintentional fun that would be. He’s a Queen, She’s from Queens type of chemistry. OH, It’s already a hit in my mind.
Right on, dear chap.
Right on the mark.
Pairing up Mr. Gunn with a co-host would be akin to serving pork rinds with Dom Perignon…now, while I’m certainly not above interesting combinations, to mess with a winning formula seems to be asking for trouble. Are they looking to add a co-host so they can run the series on NBC? Trust your audience, Project Runway!
After reading the article by Ariel Levy in last week’s NY Magazine, I think she would be perfect: funny and down to earth, but with some fashion sense as well.

Ok…not a good idea…expect for Laura Bennett, but she may be considered too high brow for some I guess..that is my opinion…ok carry on…
It’s a sad commentary on the state of television (and perhaps society as a whole) that executives from Bravo should feel compelled to dumb down a show, especially one hosted by Tim. It seems to me that the core audience already knows what we’re going to get with Tim, and we’re quite happy to have him just as he is. There’s a reason he’s the breakout star of PR. Please give us credit for having intelligence!
It’s a sad commentary on society as a whole? Isn’t that a tad dramatic?
Anyway TV producers reading this. Agreed, Tim Gunn can carry a show, I wouldn’t watch him with any nappy-headed cohosts.
Is that racist? I didn’t mean it to be, just that cohost has the word…never mind.
I think the benefit of having a cohost with Tim would be to bring a contrasting perspective. When you read his book, it’s clear he’s strongly influenced by the way women dress in Manhattan. I’d love to see an intelligent, younger, edgier Californian on with him. Someone like Alicia Silverstone comes to mind.
“too high brow”
euphemism for: “he’s too fricking GAY.”
We hail from New Zealand and just love the show. Tim Gunn is a gentleman and we adore him, he doesn’t need anyone else as a side dressing!! So looking forward to the 4th season.
