“Love Shack” or anything by the B-52′s
Honestly, a list of annoying songs without My Humps? Inconceivable.
Additionally, how about these?
Kokomo by the Beach Boys
My Sacrifice by Creed
That Barbie-girl song by that lousy Euro-group
Heat of the Moment by Asia
Bad Day by Daniel Powter
We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel
on and on…
someone already beat me to it, so i second the pina colada song… agh.
So many songs, so little room!!! ‘You Take My Breath Away’-Rex Smith ‘Sex as a Weapon’-Pat Benatar and ‘All I Wanna Do is Make Love to You’-Heart-YUK!!!!
Butterfly Kisses….ugh it makes me physically ill.
I second both What’s Going On by the 4 Non Blondes- and The Sign by Ace of Base. Maybe it’s because I have I associate both with bad memories of my childhood- but why are both still played on the radio? You basically can’t escape either song.
“My Humps” is certainly NOT one of the Most Annoying Songs Ever. People just pick on songs like that because they’re such easy targets with their nonsensical lyrics and repetitive nature… like “Hollaback Girl” or “Fergalicious.” The bottom line is that when these songs comes on at a party or a club, everyone laughs, sings along and has a good time which is exactly what the songs were designed for. When picking the Most Annoying Songs Ever, shoot for songs that are self-important or trying way too hard to be a good song.
I’m showing my age here but Season’s in the Sun by Terry Jacks has long ranked as my most annoying song.
But then again, I like Small World and, with a 4 year old, actually know all the lyrics.
You’re Beautiful – James Blunt
Although, now when I hear it on the radio I sing the lyrics of Weird Al’s You’re Pitiful and it kinda makes it fun.
Barracuda – Heart
and anything by Shaggy
“The rythm is going to get you” by Gloria Estafan. It comes on every day around 3:20pm on the musak at work and I cringe especially at the gruump noise in the middle of the song. What is that any way? Is that the rythym and is it going to get me? I don’t know but I don’t like it.
“We Built This City” by Jefferson Starship
“I Love Rock and Roll” by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
“Hey Mickey” by Toni Basil
Got Brass In Pocket…should be shelved FOREVER
Maybe I’m a little sideways here but lately the local radio station has been playing “All I wanna do” by Sheryl Crow all the time. It’s a stupid song. I’m sick of it. So Billy likes to peel the labels off his bottles of Bud? That is what people do in a bar when they are bored off their arse, Sheryl!!!
There are a lot of really good additions to the Most Annoying List here, bravah! I especially agree with “Kokomo” and “Wonderful Tonight”. And I have always hated “Simply Having a Wonderful Christmastime” but never had any idea that was Paul McCartney! He’s a Beatle, shame on him!
Here’s my contribution, I don’t know who sings it or what it’s called but it goes a little something like this:
“I love you, always forever
Near or far, close or together”
It’s very sing-songy and sounds like the work of a 4 year old and it relentlessly gets stuck in your head until you want to die.
