I may be the last Ugly Betty fan alive to come to this realization, but this morning as I read the news at Zap2It that Rebecca Gayheart has been cast in a May sweeps guest-starring role on ABC’s delectable dramedy, it hit me: the 90210 actress (last seen in the canceled Vanished, pictured at left) and Betty’s Emmy-worthy Becki Newton (at right) could pass as sisters. Which has to be what Betty’s writers are secretly planning, no? (ABC says Gayheart will be a former flame of Alex(is) Meade… but there’s got to be more to the story.) Anyhow, I’m seeing big sis as the polar opposite of Amanda: Intellectually curious, wickedly successful (maybe a top editor at something like The Economist?), and disarmingly sweet. It’d be a hoot to see her befriend Betty and to watch Amanda struggle with the realization that she’s (gasp!) jealous of sharing her Queens-based nemesis.

I don’t see the resemblance, though I must say they are both super attractive!
I’m still not sure I exactly see it, but I’m just pleased that Gayheart is going to be on the show. When she left “Dead Like Me” after only a few episodes, I was so disappointed. Want to know how much I actually like Gayheart? I’ve actually seen “Jawbreaker”…several times. I can’t help it that Gayheart, Rose McGowan, Judy Greer, Julie Benz and the Donnas all appear in one movie, especially when it comes with a special cameo appearance from “Rock and Roll High School’s” P.J. Soles. Damn, now I want to watch it right now. I’m so weak.
I love Rebecca Gayhart. She had a great turn in Niptuck a coupla seasons ago. Also anyone remember her in Earth 2, a show from the early 90s…anyone? Well I do, and she was great.
I think Becki Newton is much more attractive than Rebecca Gayheart. They have some similarities, but Rebecca looks like, hmmm, how do I say this nicely, someone who really prefers her Coke to Pepsi.

I am a fan of Gayheart’s & clearly she went through a time when getting work didn’t come easy due to the accident, but I truly think that she landed this guest stint on UGLY BETTY due ot he fact that her husband, Eric Dane, is currently starring on the net’s #1 show, GREY’S ANATOMY, immediately following Betty!! Anyone smart enough to know how network weasels will do anything to seal a deal, like say promising s certain spouse a guest stint on another successful network show, in order to keep hubby happy on his show is a total possibility! I mean, MAYBE this isn’t the case, and Rebecca won the heart of the producers over with her stellar acting chops that shined during her auditions?? THE WORLD MAY NEVER KNOW….

Rebecca starred in Urban Legend written by Silvio Horta the creator of Ugly Betty. ABC is not handing out favors because of Eric Dane. That theory is ridiculous! And, I agree, Rebecca was awesome on Nip/Tuck.
