This morning, Radar "The Internet Never Folds" Online’s Jeff Bercovici presents a very interesting theory on those leaked I [Heart] Huckabees outtakes featuring Lily Tomlin and director David O. Russell arguing and using the kind of language that strips paint from the walls and makes the baby Jesus cry. Bercovici’s question: Did George Clooney put ‘em on YouTube?
As evidence, Bercovici points to a piece Radar wrote last fall naming Russell the guy "Most Likely to Make an Actor Cry", and citing a fistfight the director had with Clooney during the shoot of Three Kings (pictured). In the same piece, they mention the then-mythological Huckabees vids. Also noted: Clooney’s current project, Leatherheads, shares a sound mixer with Good Night and Good Luck, Three Kings… and Huckabees.
WHOA. DID I JUST BLOW YOUR MIND?
Yeah. It’s probably not true, right? This is just one of those silly rumors, right? I mean, while any claims that Clooney "barely knows how to email" are patently preposterous, this seems entirely too mean-spirited for George… right? On the other hand, since Tomlin herself has said the outtakes are no big deal, would it matter if Clooney were behind the leak?
UPDATE: "Contrary to popular opinion, neither the sound man, Ed Tise, nor yourstruly sent in the David O. Russell tape," Clooney said in a statement issued Thursday. "I saw it when we wereworking on Ocean’s 12, and there have been quite a few copiestraveling around town for the last couple of years. Any rumor thateither of us put it on the Internet is simply false. And I’d offer amillion bucks to anyone who would prove otherwise."

If George released it, so what? Either way, the video makes Russell look like an a$$.
George is way too classy for such shenanigans, but it is interesting to ponder.
Even if George did this, it’s not like he can’t. He’s freakin’ GEORGE CLOONEY. You call him a name and he’ll pull a La Lohan (circa “Georgia Rule”) and hunt down all the responsible persons’ girlfriends and f**k them stupid. He’s the poo…just take a big whiff, ohhkai….
Maybe – if this is normal behavior as Tomlin indicates – movie stars and TV actors deserve their outrageous, sickening salaries?
You always see people commenting that “This is a happy set, unlike others,” or “This person was really kind and the set was like a family, which is a relief.”
I’m wondering if this is a code to let people know that most acting and directing jobs are horrible?
I mean, actors and directors are a very unusual set of emotionally labile people under intense pressures.
Maybe sets are more like insane asylums, and the big money is hazardous duty pay.
But I have to say, if I were Lily Tomlin, I would have clocked that childish, potty-mouthed MF flat.
Wouldn’t it be the sound mixer who is most suspect?
It does kind of sound like David O. Russell’s maybe a bit hard to work with though. A fistfight with one of his actors? That’s kinda’ impressive.

Has anyone ever heard the one about Arnold Schwarzenegger challenging Clooney to a drinking contest? They were drinking Schnapps, but Clooney tipped the waitress so she’d bring him water while Arnold was still doing shots. So I wouldn’t say he’s completely above pulling shenanigans.

This whole incident is kind of being blown out of porportion. I’m not doubting that these people (not just Russell, but also Tomlin) are acting like spoiled children, but it seems to be the method of interection that they have agreed upon during the creative process. Tomlin seems to understand that Russell wants to antagonize her and that they will both blow up at one another. Heck, she even blows up at Naomi Watts. I don’t see this as being all that odd for people attempting to be creative, especially on the Huckabees set where it’s obvious that the cast and crew were pushing themselves to be as creative and original as possible. It’s the type of project that could easily result in outburst of emotion. If you’ve ever been on a movie set, this kind of incident isn’t unheard of, though it usually isn’t so excessive and over-the-top.
Clooney is the best. He doesn’t look his age at all. Those videos kind of explain why I heart Huckabees was so poop sandwich though.
While George Clooney is well known for pulling pranks, they’re usually done in good humor. And when he has a problem with someone, he usually comes right out and says it. It’s doesn’t seem it would be like him to leak this video.
That said David O. Russell’s career may finally be coming to an end. He already has a hard enough time getting movies made because of his reputation. Who’s going to want to work with him now that it’s completely out in the open?
The general non-reaction by the other actors leads me to believe that this is either the type of behavior that goes on during many movie shoots, or it had become commonplace during this one.
However, I disagree that this movie was poop sandwich. I liked it very much. Mark Wahlberg in particular was great in it.
