Midwestern OGs Bone Thugs-N-Harmony return next month with Strength and Loyalty, a solid decade since their last big hit. So is it any good? The fact that Akon sings the hook on "I Tried," their first single from the new disc isn’t exactly heartening — the guy’s got, like, 37 songs on the Hot 100 right now, and grabbing such a current chart fave for their comeback bid carries the subtle but unmistakeable reek of cash-in. But Akon’s lilting voice turns out to be a perfect match for Bone Thugs’ patented sing-song flow, which has slowed down only a bit with age.The video, which recently turned up online, is even better — Akon and the three Thugs stands together on grimy Cleveland corners, singing honestly about the temptations of street life while a series of stories play out in cinematic flashes. You can check out the clip for yourself below. I found it to be a refreshing change from mainstream rap video clichés; what do you think, PopWatchers?

When Bone Thugs-N-Harmony first came out, I thought they were a refreshing change of pace for rap. Then they went away. Now, ten years later, same thing. Not as catchy as Crossroads or anything, but not bad.
Akon may have many slots on the Hot 100 “LOCKED UP” (hahaha) but he wouldn’t even have a record deal with Bone, Thugs-N-Harmony hadn’t broken the mold with the sing-songy-rapping style they perfected over a decade ago, so I think its great that they’ve united for a single. Yeah, this is no “Tha Crossroads”, but its a solid track. The video took two viewings in order for me to catch it all. The editing at the beginning when the robber leaves the store is kinda choppy & looses you for a quick second. Their album is due out April 17th, look out for their duet with long-time collaborator, Mariah Carey.
BTnH will always be a breath of fresh air to this craziness the kids are calling rap these days. Heres hoping that other sorely missed groups make a comeback as well (do you hear me Pharcyde? Roots… Tribe Called Quest… where you at!?)
That was a refreshing listen, amid all the crap in the radiowaves these days.
man! this track is sick can’t wait for the the new release!
Speaking of rap video cliches… I see the white cops being the bad guys and I see somebody else running from the police (which is a felony) instead of simply explaining what happened. Always a great choice.
I am trying to figure out who the cop is. he’s familiar but i can’t place him. anyone? bueller?
Tha Crossroads is still one of the best music videos I have ever seen. I get teary every time (and thanks to YouTube, that can be any time!)
I must say that it was a lot better than I thought it would be. It still isn’t the same without Bizzy, but we haven’t seen Bone in a while. Let’s see what they have in store.
Bone never went anywhere. The industry flopped, now their about to be flipped by them Bone Boyz.
I Tried Music Video Parody
Me and a couple friends made a music video for a church lip sync competition. We chose “I Tried” because it is one of the best songs out today. Check it out on YouTube at:
Let us know what you think. I think we did the song justice.

A homemade “I Tried” music video.
I Tried is a nice song (hopefully Australian radio stations can give this track more roation), I cant wait for Bone Thugs 2nd single to be released. I cant also wait to buy my copy of Strength & Loyalty when it is released in Australia.

So far I gotta say I like single, but I heard the who album before it came I saw the video. I know its not out yet but I gotta say that flow motion the first track is raw, and order my steps is raw too. As for this being a big hit I dont know whether the album will be or not but they seem to be going in the right direction from there last album cuz the only one I really liked on that was “Fire.” I would post up a link to were you could get this album but I dont think thats a good idea.
