But will I still be able to watch "Sesame Street" at work?

Categories: Deals, Television, Web/Tech

I don’t really understand it, but I know it’s a big deal: NBC and News Corp. have teamed up on what some have dubbed the "YouTube Killer." (Who is this "some"? I ask you.) Full-length television episodes and feature films will be available on "a new, as-yet-unnamed consumer portal." (Our corporate siblings at AOL are also involved in the venture.) I’m experiencing unwelcome flashes of that whole "It" campaign in 2002. What is Portal? What can Portal do for you? If instead of some cool new website a friggin’ Segway rolls up, I’ll be very upset. Unless it carries GOB.

Clearly I can’t explain anything, so allow The Daily Show’s puppetmaster Demetri Martin to enlighten you on what’s really going down with all the Viacom vs. YouTube online video madness. Via online video. Enjoy the meta, and especially the buffering.

Why don’t NBC and News Corp just buy You Tube from Google? After You Tube got slaped with that big lawsuit regarding copywrite violations, I’m guessing Google would sell You Tube at fire sale prices.

This is a billionaires p—ing contest.
Demitri Martin may be the next star to come off The Shmaily Shmow.

Ohhhhh…Demitri Martin is so great. That was one of the best episodes of the Daily Show ever. “The only thing I like better than watching a tv show is watching it smaller, and blurrier”. Hilarious.

Demetri Martin makes me smile on the inside!

OMG, still laughing. “Demetri, you know you do have to pay for music?” “Oh man, you ARE old!” And seeing Sumner Redstone on a popsicle stick dropping the mofo bomb was absolutely priceless.
