Oh, PopWatchers! Don’t H to the A to the T to the E to the ME for my love and devotion to Fergie. I’ve tried everything imaginable to shake my case of Fergitis Majoris — tonics, patches, meditation, even a weekend of reparative therapy at a scary ex-Fergie camp — but it appears that I was simply born to L-O-V-E the Black Eyed Peas’ ubiquitous singer. And now, comes the fourth single off her solo CD The Dutchess, "Big Girls Don’t Cry," and (gulp) wouldn’t you know, I’m bada-da-da-da… lovin’ it! — more than a McGriddle, even. And without the unfortunate gastric events! (It’s streaming at AOL Music, or you can hear it here, after the jump; just click below.)
Seriously, though, not only does "Big Girls Don’t Cry" have that sort of industrial-fixative melody that you’d expect from a Fergie single (the syrup-infused griddle-cake, if you will), but it also proves (unlike, say, "London Bridge") that the former Wild Orchid member can really sing (that would be the sausage ‘n’ egg). The lyrics ("I’m gonna miss you/ Like a child misses their blanket") are sure ’nuff processed cheesy, but I defy you to tell me the whole darn thing isn’t T to the A to the S-T-E-Y. (Her spelling, not mine.) Yes, PopWatchers, I said defy. And if those aren’t fightin’ words, then maybe you need to head to AOL Music’s "The DL" and check out my "30 Seconds to Blog" rant in defense of Fergie-Ferg. Tell me I’m not alone on this one!

You’re alone Michael. She infuriates me. If she’s going to spell, she needs to do it correctly… in fact, I’ve got my own blog post trashing her.
Michael we tend to agree on alot of things, and I said it back in Septemeber, that Fergie’s cd, was probably one of the best Pop cds of 2006! I’d like to think alot of fans were left scratching their heads when “LONDON BRIDGE” debuted, and everyone assumed Ms. Ferguson was trying to make it acceptable for white girls to rap (its 2007, but this is STILL NOT a cool trend.) THE DUTCHESS is one of my favorite cds, and there are still so many GREAT tracks from it that could be potential singles. “BIG GIRLS DON’T CRY” is a great song, but I implore folks to still check out “CLUMSY”, “ALL THAT I GOT (THE MAKE-UP SONG)”, “PEDESTAL” & “VOODOO DOLL” and the closing ballad, “FINALLY”. “FERGALICIOUS” & “GLAMOROUS” were only the appetizers, go check out the full entree & bring a big appetite!
> THANK YOU FOR COMING OUT OF THE FERGIE CLOSET, MICHAEL! I, too, AM LOVING Fergie’s debut CD. If anyone out there doesn’t have this yet (please tell me who!) then you MUST buy it pronto! Amazing set of pipes that aren’t showcased too much on the first three NUMBER ONE singles, (that’s right, haters)! BUT DUTCHESS NOW!

You’re certainly not alone. Despite some of the cheezy lyrics, (Really? Jacks and Uno cards?), it’s a fun song with much more depth than Ms. Ferguson’s last three singles. Plus, the melody is gorgeous and will be stuck in your head for days. The perfect song for a warm, breezy summer evening.

I listened to it for about 2 minutes. I know that soon enough I will not be able to turn on the radio with out hearing it.
Not a bad song, but I am sure it will irritate me when I hear it twice an hour. Radio is so corrupt and limited.
Bleh. It was forgotten the moment it ended.
Looks like Fergie-Ferg wants her own “Irreplaceable”. The song doesn’t suck, I love the fact that she lets people know she actually can sing, but it aint great. It’s like she builds up to something that never takes off, all that momentum and it goes nowhere. Lackluster in my humble opionion, no “Fergalicious” but better than “Glamorous”! And at least she didn’t spell in this one. My Grade: C+
Hopefully this will be the last single off the album, cause I can’t stand her! But I’m sure she’ll “re-package and add Spanish translated songs” to it and release it again, and again…oh wait that’s Beyonce.
She’s too trashy to take seriously and too annoying to have fun to.
I am no longer ashamed of my Fergie love. Her songs always get me dancing, and she’s not afraid of being cheesy and fun and spelling things out.
i was waiting for her to release a “good” song, with actual singing in it. “clumsy” and “all that i got” are the 2 best songs on the CD with “girls” a close 3rd. kudos to her for releasing a good “song”.
She is a complete waste. Really, she’s barely one step above Paris Hilton talent-wise. “Fergalicious” (did I even spell that crap right?) is a poorly veiled rip-off of JJ Fad’s “Supersonic”. I hate her. Just totally hate her.
I knew she had a good voice; I don’t think this song really shows it off that much. I just can’t get into it lyrically, and that ruins it for me. I do think it’s better than Fergilicious (sp? not that that seems to matter to her), both lyrically and in general, but that’s not really saying much.
I just find it funny that the songs that I initially liked right off the bat upon hearing her album back in September have become singles. . . in the order that I liked them. It’s weird. I control Fergie’s single releases, subconsciously. Now why is it that my wallet isn’t as fat as hers is?
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times — she’s making the millions, so she must be doing something right.
Although this was the one song I hoped didn’t make it on the radio. Because all the overplay will kill it for me (as it’s successfully done everything else).
Yes! I love this song too and I’m so glad she released this song as her next single. I hope it takes off just like all the rest, so she’ll have a reason to release a fifth (please “Clumsy!!!).
Love me some Fergie Ferg. I was so ashamed for so long. And yes she spells and makes up words like “risiculous” but you know what, her CD is one of the best of the year. Be out and proud. It’s cool to love Fergie. Plus she’s going to be in Grindhouse. Oh yeah.
I can’t think of a single thing to like about her aside from all the unintentionally comedic material she gives me for my “Open Letters to the Radio” on my blog.
Whoaaaa am I listening to Wild Orchid again?
eeewwwww. she/he needs to shut the #$%* up.
Fergie has NO TALENT whatsoever. I’d rather listen to Sanjaya sing for an hour than listen to her whole CD.
I love how the lyrics in Fergie’s songs are so often just her spelling out random words. She’s like Sesame Street with boobs.
Fergalicious!! Big girls dont cry is my fave song off the album, so glad its her next single!! FERGIE 4 LIFE!!
you lost credablity.
Where is her forehead?
She has that marketable, even desirable ability to quickly pen superflous lyrics and melodies that sound good when her buddies from the Peas come in and add their sprinkle of vapid, post-modern enjoyableness. Best suited when a member of the band, not a girl on her own. Oh, and the rumors of Nicole Scherzinger leaving P.C.D. better be fake because those girls are goners without her… and i think i like those girls together.
Fergie and her marketing team are very smart.
After establishing her radio clout with three big dance-oriented ,fluffy party hits, now they release a song that actually showcases her voice and she can actually sing.
This will most likely be another big hit and will diversify her fanbase, because I’m sure that some people who wouldn’t be caught dead listening to her usual speall-a-thonic songs, will be pleasantly surprised by the sweetness and the power of her actual singing voice…

That would cure me of any Fergie love.
This sounds like a ballad that Gwen Stefani would sing. She does a good job of it, but it didn’t hook me in right away. But have no fear, Michael, your girl’s ‘London Bridge’ was the song of the year in ‘06; she’ll always be cool in my eyes because of that tune. Everyone now: ‘How come every time you come around/ My London Bridge….
HOW COME EVERY TIME FERG COMES AROUND, MY LUNCHIE-LUNCHIE-LUNCH CANNOT STAY DOWN? SAYIN’ LUNCHIE-LUNCHIE-LUNCHIE!!!
LOL! Good one, Ron!
