They have a one line statment on Warren Zevon’s website saying they are working on releasing it soon, but come on, its been at least a couple years now and still no re-issue of Warren’s great live album “Stand In The Fire.” Lets get on with it people!
Plus I would love to see re-issues of The Screaming Blue Messiahs “Gun Shy” and “Bikini Red”. Why these never became hits, I’ll never know.
Am I unusual? I already own both Wilbury CD’s from the early ’90′s. There is really nothing much special on the 2nd one, (Vol. 3), but the first is a classic! “End of the Line” and “Tweeter and the Monkey Man” are my two favorites. The thing I remember about the second album was that Milli Vanilli popped up in the video for “Wilbury Twist.” Now that’s something I’m going to look for on YouTube!
Just to keep this as a music thread, I choose The Sun and the Moon (self titled) and Sun City. The former is a fantastic piece of Brit pop from 1988, the latter a great collection of all kinds of genres (rap, jazz, rock, etc.) coming together for a great cause. Just for Miles Davis’ contribution is this reissue warrented.
Love it! So great to see Roy Orbison and George Harrison on video;definitely will be purchasing this great music.
1. Lou Reed’s “Street Hassle”
2. The first two New York Dolls albums (they are out on CD but they need the deluxe remastering treatment)
3. The holy grail of out-of-print albums: Neil Young’s “Time Fades Away”. Glad Neil’s releasing the archives lately but where on earth is “Time Fades Away”??
I’m still waiting for THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. to make it’s way to DVD. Apparently SEASON 1 was supposed to be out last July by Anchor Bay, but then Warner Bros. claimed they owned the series and legal wrangling has ensued. sigh. I won’t be holding my breath. The Chris Isaak Show DVDs would be nice (but because of the dreaded cost of music rights most likely will never happen) and of course top of my list My So-Called life. (I shoulda bought it when it WAS available but I thought the cost was too high at the time)
I’d like to see “ELO – Fusion 1976″ get released on DVD. Also, i’d like all their bootlegs and Jeff’s “Armchair Theatre”.
Wow! Popwatch Genie for a day, eh? Now, what can I conjure up for myself? Anyway, I’d like to see a reissue of Vangelis’ music score for BLADE RUNNER. His 1994 version was alright, but I would’ve liked to hear some of the outtakes that didn’t make the film. I’ll go further than that even. I’d like to see Vangelis release ALL of his film music in some box set or so. Like, THE BOUNTY, CAVAFY, BITTER MOON, etc. Besides, why should the bootleggers have all the goods?
OK, I just watched the pilot on YouTube, so I can recommend: Cupid, with Jeremy Piven and Paula Marshall, aka the second most beautiful show killer of all (after Carla Gugino). It was funny, it was intelligent and it was so unique that no one watched and ABC cancelled it after 15 episodes. Pilot was real fun stuff.
The Beatles Help movie on DVD.
