Morning debate time, PopWatchers — and may the winner be left in tears! I’m talking, of course, about this horribly misguided list of male weepies Read the full post.

I cry at like every movie, so I think my opinion doesn’t count.
Three movies that do it everytime:
1. Boyz in the Hood
2. Brian’s Song
3. The Color Purple
These are the only three movies that turn me into a complete blubbering sap (that I will admit to, that is!)
“Life is Beautiful” by Roberto Begnini. I don’t know how you can not cry at the end of the movie, AND the two heroes are men.
Yea, I agree with david. FREQUENCY. Something about time travel, ham radio, and bringing your dead father back to life. It gets me every time.
The Shawshank Redemption, at the very end, as the camera pulls away and Red and Andy embrace. Nnnnnugh.
And at the end of The Sixth Sense, pretty much everything after Cole tells his mother he’s ‘ready to communicate’ with her. Which is nice, as that line has become my “suck it in and grimace” two-minute warning.
I just watched “A Little Princess” with my wife and daughter (who is 4). If you have a daughter and can watch the end of this without tearing up you have no soul.
8 Seconds?
the first movie that i saw my husband crying (until he stand up and left the room) was field of dreams. He tear up a little bit on gladiator at the scene were they kill russell crowes family. Resently World Trade Center did it for him to, he had to leave the room again!
“A League of Their Own”…yeah, yeah, I know…
i’m thinking about all the men in my life–my ex boyfriend cried at the end of “simon birch.” (as did i). my fiancé does not cry, period. haha. my dad cries at everything since he had a heart attack 12 years ago. and that’s fine by me. i love that he could care less what people think. and my mom is gushy right along with him. i don’t think i’ve seen my brother cry since my grandmother passed away in 1999.
Good call on Big Fish and the Rookie- those movies leave me a blubbering mess. (And I don’t even know why the Rookie gets to me).
I’ve long said that I can’t be friends with someone that doesn’t cry at the end of Field of Dreams. The best thing about that movie is that, by and large, women don’t “get” it. It’s a movie about fathers and sons, for fathers and sons.
Also, for some unknown reason, when the Little Quiet Daughter runs after Mel Gibson and begs him not to leave in “The Patriot,” it gets me (and most of my friends) every time. Oh, and the least emotional guy I know only cries when Mickey dies in Rocky III.
What about BRAVEHEART? I know it’s almost become cliche now, but when he gives that speech on the battlefield, and then at the end when the crowd starts pelting him with food while they take him to the torture table, that gets me every time.
I totally agree with the above post about the end of SHAWSHANK, that one always gets me.
Ok, here’s an odd one – Major League. I cry when the Wild Thing comes in and starts throwing the “heater” – but the best part is when Jake (the catcher) calls for a bunt, and then points to the stands ala Babe Ruth, and then picks himself off the ground without cleaning the dirt off after an inside pitch and points to the stands again. You’re not a guy if you don’t start to well up a little then!
“Cool Runnings” – The part where the bobsled brakes and the guys pick it up and walk across the finish line, always gets me bawling. Also: Brian’s Song (of course), The Color Purple, Imitation of Life.
And I am secure enough to admit that the going away party scene from “Snoopy Come Home” never fails to put my tear ducts in overdrive.
AWAKENINGS anyone?? Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro make all kinds of weepy happen in that amazing movie.
