James Bond sings! Pierce Brosnan is "in final negotiations" to star as one of the would-be daddies in the film adaptation of ABBA’s hit Broadway musical, Mamma Mia! (Consider that last exclamation point both Mia’s and mine.) He’ll appear alongside Meryl Streep and Big Love/Mean Girls scene-stealer Amanda Seyfried in the movie, which is due to start shooting in Europe this summer! Man, this is so rich, I could end this post right here!
But not before asking what you think, PopWatchers. After all, Brosnan hasn’t had much of an opportunity to exercise his vocal chords onscreen (the closest he’s come was warbling a few pub ditties in that sweet Irish fable Evelyn a few years back), but the 53-year-old star told Variety that he’s looking forward to it: "What a kick in the pants, to be able to go off and spend time with Meryl on some Greek island, singing ABBA songs." Moreover, I’ve made no secret on this here website of my respect for his talents and résumé: Brosnan may be best known for 007 and Remington Steele, but he remains a classically trained actor who has proven himself capable of doing so much more than the spy thing, via films like The Matador and the recent Seraphim Falls. Think he can make it as a dancing king, too?

Pierce Brosnan is great casting, so’s Amanda Seyfriend … but Meryl Streep? She’s terrible for this role. Sure, she can sing, but sing ABBA? No way.
I loved the Musical, and I was skeptical about turning it into a movie. However, with this line-up of stars it’s going to be great!
What’s the problem with Meryl? People thought she’d make an awful Francesca in “Bridges of Madison County” but she knocked the ball out of the park. It’s freaking Meryl! She can make it work. And with Pierce? My heart just stopped.
Perfect perfect perfect. She will be awesome (b/c she doesn’t know how to be anything but) and he is fantastic. And Mamma Mia is such a fun show. Can’t wait.
If someone listening out there…please put Madonna in this movie!!!
I’m not 100% sure about Amanda Seyfried being in this…I’ll have to see it. I can totally picture Meryl in that bell-bottomed jump suit singing Dancing Queen.

Madonna could certainly play one of the friends…I’d cast Kathy Najimy or Rosie O’Donnell as the other friend.

Surely Pierce Brosnan and his wife have seen the story about Carol Plants and her belief – one that appears to be true – that she is Pierce Brosnan’s sister? Her story was seen in numerous media, and televised on Inside Edition. Carol came to Los Angels/Malibu looking for answers. A letter in her mother’s Bible at her death stated that her father was not the man who raised her, but Thomas Brosnan. She approached individuals close to Mr. Brosnan – only to have the door literally slammed in her face – ultimately leading to her homelessness. It is ironic a man who claims to be such a family man, a wife who touts her own charitable efforts, have failed to come forward. If family is important to Mr. Brosnan, why not come forward? I challenge humanity starts at home. IF Mr. Brosnan and his wife are the great humanitarians portrayed to be, they should have no problem coming forward. He, himself, has nothing to lose, everything to gain; if she is his sister, she is his family. She need

Why are doors closed in her face; is someone hiding something; why keep her a secret, hidden in shadows? She has contacted a relative of Mr. Brosnan’s in Ireland willing to provide DNA. Experts say there is no way to prove Mr. Brosnan is her brother, other than through a sibling test. She wants no money from him. All she wants and DESERVES is to know who her family is. If tests prove he is not, she will slip quietly. If he is, what he chooses to do is entirely up to him; but for Carol it will provide answers she rightfully deserves to know. It would be a travesty if this story was left unfinished because of Mr. Brosnan’s celebrity status; and greater travesty if she IS his sister and they both lose something precious – family.
