Not that PopWatch needs an excuse to revisit the video for Eddy Grant’s awesomely catchy 1983 hit, "Electric Avenue," but seeing that the singer himself turns 59 years old today, wouldn’t it border on shameful if we didn’t rock down to the address in question? So press play and let the chair-dancing commence — not even your cranky boss can deny this groove!

Glad to know Eddy Grant is still with us. Electric Avenue has a catchy beat but it also has an important message about poverty and human needs. Thanks Eddy!
Wow, I never understood the lyrics until seeing the vid! Powerful indeed.
Eddie Grant is ripe for a “where are they now” special.
I heard this song a few weeks ago and it sounds as if you can hear it today on an alternative station.
Thanks for the flashback… When this video came out, people kept coming up to me in school and saying “Wow, the little girl in that video looks just like you did when you were that age” over and over (sadly, they were right!)
So glad to hear Eddy is still on the planet. I saw him live in ‘84 and he was awesome and sooo, sooo, SEXY!
OY! Thanks for the flashback!
